What User doesn't like about Kallangur Tavern:
We were staying at a motel across the street. When I tried to order drinks for my 19-year-old son using his digital NSW license, they refused to serve him. This was the only place in QLD where we encountered this issue. We ordered 6 meals but only received 5. After waiting for 20 minutes, we were able to get someone's attention and they promptly refunded us and arranged for another meal. The food was good considering... View all feedback.
Friends and I came here for my first day on an Australian vacation.
Caught between a rock and a hard place as given lack of time and other options in Kallangur we had little choice but to go to the Kallangur Tavern.Maccy Dees wasn't an option! With its slots on one side and the Sports Bar on the other it wasn't our kind of thing. But Mother is the necessity of invention and we decided to go for their Grassland Steaks. The concept of Aussie Grassland Steak is that it is as nature intended and is produced from free-range cattle that have been raised on natural pastures. We ordered 2 of their Filet Eye Steaks and they were really good and pleased that we gave this place a go.The veggies that came with it were Al Dente (which surprised us) so we came out feeling we'd had a really nice meal.It might not look much from the outside but the Food was good.I don't know how true this is but we were told that it was owned by Woolies!
The Kallangur Tavern is always generally a reliable night out for tea. It is pub food overall so there is occasionally one person who is slightly underwhelmed but not unhappy. The food and service in the last 6 months has improved drastically and I notice that some of the older staff who were not very interested have moved on. This was a great step for the Tavern. There are great daily specials which save on $'s and present very good value for families. They get the basics generally right and now do so with patience and a smile (very important when you're a regular). It's generally a busy dining room but feels comfortable and has a good vibe each evening. It's a no fuss dining experience and isn't fancy - if you are after fancy presentation and fine dining then this tavern won't be your cup of tea. It's pub grub done basically, comfortably and tastefully.Look out for the beer specials if you're after a coldie. Last week was $5 pints of XXXX Gold, which isn't too bad. I would also give the Roast of the Day a miss - this is reheated leftovers and can be a bit underwhelming.

When we first moved to Kallangur 4 and a 1/2 years ago the Tavern was one of the first places we dined out at, was not impressed. We did not go back for a year. We heard they changed chefs, menu and staff, I am pleased to say we are now regular diners at the Tavern, great meals for all and big meals as well, we went there recently and I had the meat fest meal, tasty, cooked they way I like it and filling, my missus had the chicken Parma (as she does) and guess what, it is real chicken and not the processed ****. If you are a down to earth person that is after a good meal at good prices then go to the Tavern. 4 stars for me.
