Cute little bakery in Kalispell. The pastries were good and had a wide variety! Would’ve been even better had they been warmed up. Unfortunately the service was not good. The lady at the front was very very rude to my mom. When my mom asked about the ingredients in the mixed berry pastry, the woman scoffed and said “well it’s a traditional mixed berry” with such a “duh” attitude. All my mom wanted to know was if there were raspberries in the danish because she’s not the biggest fan. Not a terrible question to ask Id say. It’s mother’s day weekend and just a very disappointing encounter. The woman at checkout was kind though so maybe just an outlier bad egg in the bunch.
I visited Ceres for the first time today and purchased a perfect looking chocolate croissant. After taking it home and gently heating it in the microwave, I enjoyed arguably the best croissant I’ve ever had. The flaky exterior revealed light tasty layers inside, and the chocolate was dark and smooth. What a wonderful French bakery right here in Kalispell!!
Dietary restrictions: Not much of a selection for diabetics. I did have a nice Ham and cheese croissant. But as usual the pastries looked wonderful but none that I saw were sugar free. Maybe they could do a croissant with cream cheese sweetened with stevia?
Absolutely favorite place! The location downtown is fun because it’s walking distance to several shops if you’d like to take a look around after this stop. I usually have no problem finding parking right out front mid morning during the week, which is a major bonus for me since I have 3 littles to keep an eye on.The croissants are the best ones in town BY FAR. Huckleberry bun is so yummy too: flaky “croissant” with huckleberry icing and a bit of huckleberry filling classic montana flavor. The other “bun” options are also very tasty.Cardamon knot is a must sweet yet not over the top. If you love cardamom, this is perfectly done. Pair it with a cardamon latte and yum!Scones are great too! I love the spice options more than the fruit ones, just a personal preference, but I bet the fruit ones are good too.Cinnamon/caramel rolls are generous and classic goodness. Don’t let the fact that one is sweet potato sway you for trying it. So so good!I’ve tried all their cookies and they’re the best companion. Favorite thing to grab when I’m just popping in for coffee or bread. The coffee is one of the best in town too! I usually order whatever their current house flavor is and it doesn’t disappoint. My go to is an 8oz latte with oat milk, half sweet. They also have decaf available. The seasonal lemonade options so so good!! Give those a try during the summer months. They also have a refrigerator case with ice tea options and even pizza dough. I haven’t had the chance to try those yet though. The chive Gouda biscuit is delicious! Flaky biscuit, smoky cheese, and just the right amount of chives in the egg. It also travels well for takeout and is just as tasty as dining in.The bread yes please! We all love their sourdough options. The French bread and baguettes are so good too. Their prices are reasonable, compared to other local places, and it’s great to find it at their store and some of the local grocery stores as well. I will say, we did try their bagels and the challah bread. The bagels were kinda flat to me and the challah was dry but maybe that’s changed? We only tried it the one time. The atmosphere is awesome. There’s several types of seating options, including a bar in the window; the best for people watching. It’s a good place to sit with a few friends or by yourself. It’s bright and cheery and the plant wall and large ficus are favorites for all plant lovers! There’s water readily available as well.Overall, if there’s a place you’d like to be a regular at, this is it! If I could go every week, I would for sure. Vegetarian options: Almost all the pastry options are vegetarian and the chive Gouda biscuit is so delicious! You’ll pay more or about the same for a sad breakfast sandwich other “popular” places and this one blows it out of the water. Flaky, buttery square biscuit, chive egg patty inside, and yummy smoky Gouda cheese. Yes please! Dietary restrictions: As far as I know, there’s no dairy free options, except for milk alternatives for coffee. I think there are some gluten free options, but this varies. Parking: Street parking availability varies depending on time of day and day of the week. Mid morning during the week, there’s usually something available close by. Kid friendliness: I’ve only gone to Ceres once without kids. My 3, 6 and under, all love it. Their booth tables are perfect for us to fit at with the option to pull up a highchair or a stool for extra seating. The booths are wooden so it makes it easy for me to wipe up all the pastry crumbs my kiddos leave behind. There’s a bathroom that’s large enough for all of us to fit inside. I love the kids can see all the pastry options to choose from and there’s zero chance they can touch/breath on them. Wheelchair accessibility: There’s a ramp to go in and the door ways are all wide enough. The bathroom is large enough and the seating area has several options to sit a wheelchair close to.
Always amazing, the best bread, great drinks and awesome
