OMG Real Mexican Food! The restaurant was clean, the staff was very friendly, the service was fast, the prices were great, and the amount of food we received vs the cost was perfect. ALL in ALL, I definitely recommend this local Mexican food for everyone looking for REAL Mexican food. I guess first of all a Mexican food facility to taste and freshness her salsa. Frikin brilliant. Her hot salsa was a bit salty, but st... View all feedback.
What Steph H doesn't like about Los Habaneros:
STEPH JUDGEMENT: Good, casual Mexican food in a no-frills atmosphere. Came here for lunch after snorkeling and the hearty classic Mexican eats really hit the spot. We each got a margarita and I got the fish tacos plate and the hubby got a bean and cheese burrito. You order and pick up at the counter, no table service. Overall everything was fine, but can't say anything was outstanding--just your typical Mexican comfo... View all feedback.
Fast and friendly service! I was craving Mexican food and this place did the job! It's a perfect of example of that Tex-Mex experience in Hawaii. Order at the counter and find your own seat kind of place . Nice ambience with very cool art. The owners are such great people. The man came out to say hello to us and told us how him and his wife started the place . Such a humble and touching story. Definitely coming back!
Oahu people know there is no really good (there is good, but not REALLY GOOD) authentic Mexican food on Oahu. I was pretty shocked to go Kona and the workers spoke Spanish. That's always a good sign. If they didn't speak any English, probably would have been better. It was still very Americanized, but oh well. It's fine. Hot salsa not very hot, but was tasty. I wasn't super hungry so just had the ground beef quesadilla but still couldn't finish it. Tasted good except for the oil dripping down my hand. Hubs had the burrito. It was the size of my calf...I have big calves. He inhaled and had major kanak attack after. He said big strips carne. I like mine bite size so not as messy, but he liked it. Overall, pretty good. I want to go back and try some other things...

We each got a margarita and I got the fish tacos plate and the hubby got a bean and cheese burrito. You order and pick up at the counter, no table service. Overall everything was fine, but can't say anything was outstanding--just your typical Mexican comfort foods. We got what we came for and were satisfied.
Don 't go here. The girl at the cash register was beyond rude. We got in the door that was still open at 7:03 PM. She instantly said we 're closed in the rudest way you could possibly think. We were super kind and said oh no problem. As we were turning to walk out we said, is there anyway you can take one more. Our two little kids that were with us were so disappointed. Also we noticed that the kitchen was still fresh and moving and putting out orders I would like to note. She was so smug, so rude, even her face had a look of anger, and she said no, as I said we are closed in the most angry way possible. it was horrible and embarrassing for the place. This girl should be instantly fired. And they seriously need to train their staff in kindness and customer service. I don 't think I 'll ever go again here because of this horrible experience.
Not many Mexican choices in Kona, but this is your best bet if you agree that Taco Bell is not actually Mexican food. Portions are large if you go for the burritos. Ask for the salsa hot and you won't be disappointed.
