After talking with the owner, he addressed our concerns and it sounds like our experience wasn't the norm. The food was good, and that martini is delicious. Happy to have another opportunity to experience this place and to have it be a lot better. We will be back. View all feedback.
What Scott S doesn't like about Jackie Rey's Kailua-kona:
So sad! They took away the car and maybe under new management??? Although the fish special was good, the service was abominable. Our food came before our drink order and the bread wasn't even ready when he brought the food out. It was 5:30 and relatively empty. We felt rushed and if it wasn't for the Chef's ability to create a delicious meal we would have thought we were at a Denny's or something. Such a shame becaus... View all feedback.
Good food but they need to add some steaks to the menu to get a fifth star. The bar is also very nice but there is not an ocean view unfortunately.

Thank you Chef, but some servers need serious training!

Delicious! We found this place about mid way through our trip, it's an unassuming building in a business center off the main road in Kona up on the hill overlooking the ocean. There are no windows so you get unobstructed views and the breeze. We made reservations for 4pm, didn't think it was necessary since it was a Thursday but we did anyway. It was the usual 4pm crowd you'd think of when we got there but it started to fill up around 5 when we were leaving. They do have a happy hour and you don't have to sit at the bar for it so I got a mai tai and my husband got a Hawaiian margarita. Both were good. For dinner I had the mochiko fish which was Mahi and my husband got the seafood trio. The mochiko is gf since it's just rice flour and I'll say it was delicious. The veggies were fresh and the purple sweet potato was perfect. My husband really enjoyed his plate as well. The service was great, very nice and answered any questions. We'd definitely eat here again.
They don't do take out and advertise for it they were rude on phone and they don't honor advertisement
