Big Kahuna Beach Grill - Kailua-Kona

Honestly my expectations for this place weren't high as the atmosphere is very geared towards tourists. However the food was very good! We had the loco loco and the fish tacos. Both were very flavorful! Would recommend these dishes.Service was also quick and friendly!Parking: Very limited street parking.

Had the best Valentines dinner here. The view was incredible, we were lucky to get in right around sunset.(Ask for a table on the edge if you can). Our server Tara was knowledgeable of the menu and was able to answer questions about things to do in the area. She recommended two dishes that were both a hit. We really enjoyed her jokes and prompt service. The restaurant was busy but the way the tables are spaced out it never felt too loud or chaotic. What a lovely way to spend the night away from our hotel restaurant. Thank you for the yummy food Big Kahuna fab service Tara!

2/21/24: I can’t recall the last time a meal at a restaurant was so completely devoid of any discernible flavor. I ordered the fish tacos husband ordered the steak cheese sandwich with fries. We couldn’t figure out any flavor, truly a very bland meal. We only ended up here because of convenience to our next destination. We know we ate food, but couldn’t tell you what it was supposed to be if blindfolded. Skip this place if you’re looking for anything tasty.

First time visiting the island and this was another great experience. We sat with Jennifer at the bar and she was amazing! Friendly, wonderful service and she made the most delicious Tropical Whale with my favorite Gray Whale Gin. She also gave some great insight about breadfruit! Although simple, the house salad was really good, and the Big Kahuna burger was seasoned and made to perfection. Patties were juicy and the fries were piping hot! Definitely a great place to dine. View of the ocean is beautiful. You won't be disappointed visiting here.

It is a great location, but the food was mediocre at best. I had the philly cheese and it wasn't very good. I didn't finish it. My companion had fish tacos, and she didn't like them.
