The Jailhouse Kaikoura

I ordered the gluten free chicken burger and chips. The cook showed me the packaging of the bun so I could double check the ingredients, explained to me the cross contamination measures (seperate fryer, nothing with gluten ever goes on the grill). Best chips I've had in years! Doubled checked they were gluten free because the seasoning was so good and he said they specially order a gluten free Moroccan seasoning in. Super patient answering all my questions

I ordered a gluten free burger from here, and even though they have clearly marked menus, and lots of options, I was still made a burger with a regular bun, and didn't notice until I had a bite. They replaced it, however were not apologetic at all. Quite disappointed.

I ordered the homemade fries and a chicken burger. Meals were huge, reasonable and staff were really knowledgeable and accommodating. Separate fryer and gluten free buns that were fab. They cater really well to kids too. Could not have had a better experience!

Had the GF vegan burger, it was nice. Very knowledgeable staff, separate GF fryer. No side effects.

My husband has eaten some burgers and he said this one was up in the top 3 hes had. Really good flavourful food. Big portions fries were huge and yum as.
