Reviews - Gorgers
Reviews summary
Gorgers offers a mixed bag of experiences, showcasing both promise and pitfalls. While many patrons rave about the quality and freshness of ingredients, especially in standout items like the Banh Mi and innovative "man salad," others express concerns about service delays and cleanliness. The small, cramped setting can detract from an enjoyable meal, and issues such as dog-friendly policies have sparked debate over health and safety. Despite these challenges, friendly staff and the potential for delicious, customizable sandwiches keep some diners returning. Gorgers has its highs and lows, making it a restaurant to approach with tempered expectations.
Was Benjamin B at Gorgers a mag?
So to me, the real star of the show is taking a sub and picking the option of turning into a 'man salad ' although, I wouldn 't mind a less sexist name. Basically, they take any sub and instead of on a sub roll they dump it on a box of really good fries. Quality ingredients, however, the bread for the subs is ok and would be a LOT better if they could toast or grill it. Absolut favorite is The Bomber pretty tradition... View all feedback.
What Katherine Ransdell dislikes about Gorgers:
I should have gone to Wegmans. There was no line, but don’t let that deceive you. We waited 40 minutes for two sandwiches…that’s what happens when you understaff and have one person dedicated to catering orders, one at the register and making bread, and the other only remaining person for walk-in customers. Food was sub par, fresh baked bread is only tasty when it doesn’t turn soggy right away. View all feedback.

Surprised to see how highly this is rated by others. Did not seem clean. Phillly cheesesteak was unusual and not in a good way. When I asked for hot sauce they seemed surprised that I would want it
Small place, but absolutely so much flavor coming out of here. I ordered the Philly and it's the best I've had in 10 years around this area! Rolls are made on site and are amazing!! An absolute must try when in ithaca!
Wow!! U gotta try “the bomber” sub. This is the 9” one an the pickles chips are amazing. Doesn’t look like much on the outside. But this place is worth a stop!

I have been to this restaurant three or four times now. The staff is very friendly and I love that they offer the option to have any sandwich made vegan by substituting Seitan or eggplant. The food is consistently delicious and I have always had a great experience.
I tried the Bahn Mi with house-made seitan and eggplant wings at this restaurant and found them to be very delicious and incredibly fresh.
That was my third or fourth time. Very friendly staff and love the ability to get any sandwich as a vegan option where they swab in Seitan or Auberginen! Food is really good and was really consistent!
I tried the Banh Mi Pgh sub at this restaurant. They offer the option to make all subs vegan, with either a side or aubergines. The bread was delicious and very soft. The Banh mi had a light spice and was quite sweet in my opinion. Ordering online was quick and easy, and pickup was a breeze.
Was so surprised that this wasn 't on Happy Cow already! Any sub that they offer can be made vegan by choosing the housemade seitan or fried eggplant as the protein. Some subs would need to have cheese/mayo omitted, but if you just tell them to make it vegan they know what to do. That 's the only bummer it 'd be next level if they offered vegan cheese and mayo. The subs are seriously delicious, with homemade bread that 's perfectly soft but not soft and gummy like yoga mat Subway bread. The subs at Gorger 's are super affordable a small is $6 and a large is $9, and they 're stuffed to the gills with filling. The panda wings are made with fried eggplant (omit blue cheese on the side to make vegan). All in all a great find in a town that doesn 't have a ton of vegan options.

Nice customer service. Eating is amazing and you can say they take their time. The Rumble salad is a guard and amazing. If you haven't tried yet, you won't regret going one of my favorite places
Excellent sandwiches, and the bacon cheese fries are delicious with the large pieces of bacon. Try the roasted eggplant sandwich. The maple frosted doughnuts are also great. All sandwiches can be made as salads.
Came here off a recommendation after exploring the Cornell campus. Kid you not when I say these subs are absolutely MASSIVE. And incredibly delicious as well. Loaves made fresh and with care, coupled with the clean, open facility. Perhaps what sealed the deal was their great ambience and the precious lady’s cordial service. Try their Banh Mi. Seriously. It’s so good.
Ridiculously nice people and OBSCENELY good food! THE BREAD THATS MADE IN-HOUSE
If you're looking for a family-owned, small business that is very customer friendly and provides an excellent variety of unique delicious subs, salads, soups, sides amazing donuts, Gorgers is the place. My group had a chicken bacon ranch sub that was enough for 2 adults, a wonderful chicken caesar salad that was excellent and shrimp taco that was very flavorful. My group topped these off with homemade donuts which are a local favorite. Other luncheon options include Mexican, Caribbean, Thai, Japanese, Mediterranean and American favorite items. Very impressive for a small take-out, medium-priced restaurant that has about 6-8 outside tables. If you're visiting Ithaca, we highly recommend stopping at Gorgers for lunch. You will love it.
