Additionally, the draught beer has drawn criticism for being flat and unsatisfactory. Though the pub excels in decor and sociability, many agree it needs significant improvements in its culinary offerings and beverage selection to match its potential as a beloved neighborhood spot.
Wanted to spoil a friend visiting England with a Sunday roast. Heard good things so thought would try. Unfortunately it was so dreadful. The service! The waitress was more concerned flirting and chatting to the chef and her friends than taking our order. We had to call her eventually to take our order. We had the sirloin roast. And was absolutely like jerky! So tough! No flavour. Cooked dry. No steak knives. The roast potatoes tasted old and cooked a few days before. And way to hard. Not even crunchy. Just hard and stale. But we were so hungry and paid £18 for it. We ate it. We then sat for over 20 mins with the dirty plates in front of us while the waitress set up tables that she hadn’t even wiped down after people left and continued to talk to the chef. Eventually I had to ask the gentleman waiter to remove our plates. We were debating having dessert. But the service was so so so awful and after such a let down on the Sunday roast. We honestly just wanted to get out!! I would highly suggest training for the waiters and perhaps a slightly different approach on the roast beef. The service was shocking!! I definitely won’t be back and sadly won’t recommend.
Came here with some friends for a roast and drinks. The food was fantastic, the staff were really friendly and everything was a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend and will be revisiting soon.
Needs more variety of menu but covid restrictions might prevent this good atmosphere might prevent this
This place could be great but has some real issues with its food, I have been here a handful of times and on each occasion experienced a great many problems. The food was either burnt, over seasoned, cold or flavourless. As the person serving us said, it happens a lot ... There is no reason for a kitchen to be so blunt. Having pride in your food is a basic part of an operation, ensuring the same reliability as the beer. Due for a change, or due to be left well behind.
Went here 4 a nice Sunday lunch one time in December we didn't feel like cooking tbh but lovely service etc
