Unable to book a table at our go-to local pizza place, we bravely ventured to a different Italian establishment on a ravenous pizza-seeking rampage one Thursday evening. Il Bacio is a typical, reasonably priced pizza place with a predictable menu, bland but inoffensive décor but really lovely staff. I ordered the Napoli pizza which (and peeeerhaps I should have seen this coming) was far too salty. Salt capers, salty olives and salty anchovies!! It was still quite tasty but after the first couple of slices I noticed my hands had started to prune and wrinkle, another slice and my whole body was shrinking and drying out like a sun-dried tomato! Il Bacio is a pretty textbook Italian with pretty textbook Italian fare Now my go-to tactic when eating out is to find the menu, find the mains, not bother reading any descriptions and look to the far right side for that glorious V' that means go for it dude, you can eat me'...veggies beware this will not work here! I had a Vegetariana', unsurprisingly that's the veggie pizza; weirdly no V' though...even more bizarrely the one with anchovies did have the golden V' for go. Il Bacio, located on Blackstock Road in Highbury, has quickly become a popular dining spot in the neighborhood. This casual, modern restaurant features a glass exterior and laminated wood floors. With a large flat-screen TV in the back, guests can enjoy watching football games while dining. Just a short walk from the Arsenal stadium, it is recommended to make reservations in advance, especially on game days. The owners of Il Bacio are from Sardinia, and they import ingredients such as flour for the pizza dough, mozzarella, cured meats, sausage, and olives.
The restaurant offers big pizzas and delicious Sardinian dishes. It's a shame about the television.
