The appetizers arrived alongside our son's chicken fingers and fries. I opted for the French onion soup, while my wife chose Nonna's meatballs. Unfortunately, my soup was quite unpleasant. The onions were a jumbled mix of sliced, diced, and minced pieces, giving it a hodgepodge appearance. The overpowering smell and taste of red wine made it worse, as the wine seemed not to have been reduced properly. The Swiss cheese on top wasn’t melted; instead, it was oily and half solid. My wife's meatballs were also disappointing: they were two small, one-size meatballs topped with a small dollop of ricotta cheese. They fell apart easily and were exceedingly bland, with a sauce that tasted like something out of a Chef Boyardee can. The ricotta was equally tasteless. Overall, the food was quite unappetizing. On the plus side, our son’s chicken fingers and fries were excellent—well-seasoned and perfectly cooked! For our main courses, my wife and I ordered steak frites. I chose the hanger steak cooked medium with chimichurri, while my wife ordered the ribeye with peppercorn sauce cooked rare. When our mains arrived, hers was drenched in a foul-smelling sauce, and I could see that my steak was undercooked, almost blue. When my wife cut into her ribeye, she discovered it was actually well done. I informed our waiter, who promised to bring the manager. After a 15-minute wait, the manager approached and said he would get us a new order due to a kitchen mix-up. I explained that we didn’t want to wait another 20 minutes and that the food we had already received was not up to par. The manager offered to comp the entire bill. At that point, we had already had two glasses of wine, chicken fingers, fries, and our appetizers. I requested to cancel the mains and pay for the rest. Ten minutes later, I received a bill for $120, which I realized should have only come to $80 based on our order. I questioned this discrepancy, and the manager admitted it was his mistake. Frustrated with the whole situation, I felt we shouldn’t be charged for the clearly inedible meatballs that cost $21, as my wife hadn’t touched them. Eventually, we settled the bill with the manager comping the chicken fingers for our troubles. He then remarked that he didn't make anything off the chicken fingers, which struck me as an odd comment. Overall, I would recommend staying away from this place. A glass of house cabernet was priced at $18, and it seems like they are cutting corners in the kitchen to manage rising costs. The décor and ambiance were quite nice, and the staff was friendly and attentive, but the food was lacking and not worth the prices they charge. There’s a clear reason the restaurant was empty on a Friday night at 7 PM, while other establishments nearby were bustling.
