The overall reviews for this restaurant are mixed, with some customers having a terrible experience and others enjoying their visit. Some complaints include cold and poor-quality food, rude service, and sneaky billing practices. However, there are also positive reviews praising the delicious food, generous portions, and great customer service. The restaurant is described as having a traditional curry house ambiance and a good location. Despite some negative feedback, the restaurant seems to have potential for providing a satisfying dining experience for those who appreciate good food and attentive service.
I visited this restaurant during a work trip to Inverness. The decor was a bit dated, but the views overlooking the river were really nice. The service was excellent, and most importantly, the food was amazing! The chicken pakora was the best I have ever tried!
This traditional curry house offers a pleasant dining experience. The booths provide a lovely view of the River Ness. The decor may be a bit dated, but the food is delicious and reasonably priced. The service was prompt and I would definitely come back.
On a business trip in Inverness and went past Shapla, so thought let's give it a try. Was pleasantly surprised with the food and service was very good. Lamb Jalfrezi was brilliant with the steamed soft lamb. The Chicken Butter Curry was nice, smooth and very tasty. Basmati Pilau rice was nice and soft but the Garlic Nan was ok, nothing special. The owner was very hospitable, came and spoke to us and made us feel very welcome. Will visit again next time we're in Inverness.
Food was rather okay. It took an amazing lot of time to arrive at our tables, to.the point we began to regret our decision. Inside the restaurant it felt stuffy and something making us sneeze almost immediately. The person taking our order had no suggestions as he was only a part time worker as mentioned by him. So,.that was our first interaction. The shesh kebabs were dry to begin feeling like wood. Perhaps the first restaurant that did not ask for water. They say this is Indian but it does not feel like Indian Cuisine, but one won't know until you have tasted. We were the only ones in the restaurant. To sum it up, it was not the money's worth
I recently visited Shapla Restaurant in Inverness and was extremely disappointed by my experience. The food lacked flavor and freshness, the service was slow and inattentive, and the overall atmosphere was uninviting. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a satisfying dining experience. The staff's behavior was unacceptable, and we felt discriminated against when we were asked to sit in a corner despite the restaurant being nearly empty. No one attended to us, and the food was of poor quality. This visit took place in August 2021.
