Bodard Express - Houston
Bodard Express
Description
While this restaurant has garnered a loyal following over the years, recent visits reveal a troubling inconsistency in both food quality and customer service. Diners have reported inaccuracies in orders, with poorly cooked chicken and bland dishes that lack authentic flavor. Service issues compound the disappointment, as rude interactions with staff have driven customers away. Despite a few redeeming menu items, like their wonton soup and egg rolls, the overall experience leaves much to be desired. Patrons urge management to address these concerns to avoid losing their clientele and restore the warmth and welcome expected from a community eatery.

I really enjoy the combination of fried rice and Chick-fil-A nuggets. Food rating: 4/5.
When I inquired about their opening time, her response was vague and dismissive: "Whatever time we get here." I honestly couldn't believe it. I assure you, I’m not being overly critical or mean-spirited, but I urge the owner to reconsider having this employee in a customer-facing role; she is driving customers away and harming your business. Regarding the food, I ordered the chicken curry, which was disappointingly soupy and lacked flavor—it resembled chicken curry-flavored water. It was bland and clearly microwaved. I found it far from authentic, nutritious, or healthy. Owner, I urge you to take a closer look at the quality and taste of your food. If you served this to your family, would they be proud of it? Does it evoke the warmth of home-cooked meals? It really matters. Lastly, trying to get a refund was pointless; the cashier simply referred me to call the owner.
When I asked if they had dumplings, she curtly replied, almost as if she assumed I was stupid, "Only vegetarian." After placing my order, I stood to the side waiting for it to be ready. Five minutes later, a bag was placed on the counter, and when I inquired if it was my order, she mumbled something and shook her head in a dismissive manner. My friend, who was with me and intended to order Pho, changed her mind after witnessing the cashier’s rudeness. Another customer who came in also walked away after experiencing the same unhelpful attitude. A minute later, when I asked about my order again, the cashier looked at me condescendingly and bluntly repeated, "Number 90????" When I picked up my order, she shot me another look as if I was a nuisance. At that point, I requested to speak with a manager, but she initially ignored my request. After asking again, she leaned into the service window and called for a manager. Unfortunately, the so-called manager never came to speak with me. While I explained my concerns about the cashier's rudeness, the manager remained silent, and the cashier kept interrupting me and mocking me, laughing as if I were an idiot. It’s safe to say that I will never return to this establishment. I informed them that I would be reporting my experience and warning other potential customers. It’s truly disappointing to see such poor customer service, especially in a small business like this. I've noticed other reviews on this site mentioning similar experiences with rude staff, suggesting that they clearly don't care to improve.
I was very disappointed with today's service. The girl that took my order was rude. And then the chicken didn't even taste good. I have ate there many times and never got bad food like I did today.
