I've been a regular at Piola for over a year, and the food is fantastic! I typically kick things off with a beer and their eggplant parmesan, which is probably the best I've ever had. What mary small doesn't like about Piola:
Although delicious the lasagna serving was small, expensive and came with nothing else (like salad, veggie or bread). The place was clean but grungy looking. The kitchen staff were shouting at each other and you could hear other noises from the kitchen like blenders. We were seated close to the kitchen. Acoustics left a lot to be desired. Top restaurant for pizzas and pasta. Nice ambience. One of the few places where our family cleaned each of our plates!
I visited for the first time last night and I was really impressed! Despite being short-staffed, the service was excellent. I ordered a salad with goat cheese, which was fresh and delicious, while my girlfriend enjoyed the gnocchi special that featured various types of gnocchi. In my opinion, their pesto sauce is the best I've tasted in the city—I even took some home with me!
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu is full of great selections, and the open kitchen is fun to watch. Will definitely be back!
