Tenkaippin - Honolulu
Tenkaippin
Description
Located on Kapahulu Avenue, Tenkaippin Ramen has garnered both praise and criticism from diners. Many rave about its rich, flavorful broths and delicious ramen varieties, calling it the best ramen shop in Honolulu. However, some guests express disappointment over high prices and inconsistent service, reporting issues with portion sizes and condiments. The small, sticky environment, paired with interruptions from an incessant TV program featuring the owner, detracts from the dining experience. Overall, while Tenkaippin Ramen impresses with its culinary offerings, logistical and service challenges leave some diners yearning for improvement.

The ramen at this restaurant is pretty good, but be prepared for potential difficulty getting the attention of the waiter as it seems to be a one-person operation. Here are some logistics to keep in mind: there is free parking in the back, they have air conditioning so you can enjoy your ramen all year round, and they accept card payments. I recommend trying the Miso ramen, which is very good with a decent amount of toppings. The cabbage salad is also a nice addition, dressed in a vinegar dressing.
Tenkaippin will always hold a special place in my heart. It saddens me to say goodbye as my favorite ramen spot closes its doors. I visited one last time to bid farewell and was happy to see the restaurant bustling with customers. Thank you for the years of delicious ramen and for always taking care of me. Your noodles were made with love and care, and I will surely miss them. You will be forever remembered.
This is the best ramen shop in Honolulu. It's heartbreaking to see them closing. I wish there was something we could do to make them stay. Honestly, their ramen is the most flavorful, rich, and deeply satisfying I've ever had. The small shop reminds me of ramen places in Japan. They provide little containers of spicy garlic/ginger and spicy miso paste that elevate the dish to another level. The service is excellent, with attentive staff who always make sure you have everything you need. I hope they can make a comeback, but if not, it's been a great journey. I'll just have to settle for instant ramen from now on, I guess... This is my 1000th review, what an honor! I absolutely love Tenkaippen! Please, don't leave us!
Big epic fail last night it was my sister -in-law birthday and she wanted Tenkaippin Ramen. So of course no problem I decided to give them a call 5:30pm once they open .Talked to a lady over the phone who I had a hard time to understand with her heavy Japanese accent . She advised me that there was no take out available only dine in . I than replied how come she said that they don't have any take out containers available. Ok now what establishment don't t have take out containers. I understand that maybe they ran out or waiting for the back order to come in , but that's no excuses when running a business you should always order way before your stock runs out just in case you have a hard time getting containers. Tenkaippin just lost my business that night also other take out orders as well . I'm not sure if I'm going to give them another try in the future. Try to support local whenever possible
Oh my. Best ramen I 've had in my life?!?!? First time trying here. Good luck finding parking. We accidentally parked in the papa John 's area and noticed the sign after that we could 've been towed. Luckily, we weren 't so be careful. Anyhow, gonna try to make this short. We had no wait, got there around 5, and ordered the garlic oyster ramen and fried chicken. They forgot about our fried chicken and brought it out after we were done with our ramen, but the ramen was so damn good, we didn 't even care about the chicken at that point. I had 3 oysters which were so YUMMY and the broth was deliciously buttery and garlicky and just HEAVENLY. I must 've said mmm after every savory bite. Been dreaming of this place since we left and dying to go back!
