Personally I love this place because I use to come here as a kid. Pricing is good the amount of food you get is worth it. It's definitely comfort food for me I crave it when the weather isn't the best. My go to is the gomoku tofu ramen with side gyoza. This hole in the wall ramen place also has katsu, curry, fried rice and a assortment of other dishes. View all feedback.
Tai sei was in business for years but in this last location maybe about 15 years per the worker. it was sad for any business closing and I want to come here to support for the last time. You can miss the place if you were driving too fast but the parking lot was just before Alapai Street on Beretania Street on the right. There are not too many restaurants in this area. it was a good location for the near by businesses. After hearing other saimin/ramen places closing soon or have already closed like Old Saimin House Sanoya, and Taiyo to close later this year, made me sad. I came here a few times before. It wasn't really busy and the ramen was decent. The combo sets they offer with the drink was usually my go to choice. I got the pork fried rice with mini char siu ramen and a can drink. Their service was good and fast. My friend saw their closing sign and I called to confirm their last day. Good Friday, State holiday, 4/15/22 was their last day. I'm not sure who was the owner but there was an older couple and younger guy cooking. I guess after the pandemic, perhaps they decided to take a rest. Bo Kitchen is coming into this spot and I wish them well. Vendors in Ohana Hale Marketplace last day was April 16, 2022. I wanted to support and thank them one last time. Their fried rice wasn't not bad . Even without the request for no egg, they have ham, pork, green onions and even fish cake inside. Ramen was okay and I did get gyoza on the side! Prices were reasonable. Best wishes and thank you for your business all these years! Thank you for reading my review!
Always great yakisoba, gyoza, everything on their menu is awesome. Wife, family, we have been visiting this place for decades and always enjoyed. Whenever we're in town for something during the day, this is our preferred stop to eat. Wife and I had lunch there today and found out they will be closing permanently next week Friday (Apr 15). Our hearts are broken.
I have passed by Tai Sei Ramen numerous times on Beretania Street, but have not actually eaten here until today. I was in the mood for local-style saimin, but wasn't feeling like walking to Kalihi to get it! So I stopped by here, and I was not disappointed! Please keep in mind that, if you want to eat in, you need to present proof of vaccination and a government-issued ID, per the City County's emergency rules. The business also notes on a sign that all employees have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Tai Sei Ramen is a very standard Chinese-owned and operated local ramen establishment. That means you can expect it to be similar to a Ramen Bones or a Daiichi Ramen, but in my opinion, the quality is much better and it's not necessarily a salt bomb like you can get at the other comparable chains. I got the combo #2, which was chicken katsu curry with rice and a small bowl of char siu ramen. The broth was really rich and had a good, layered flavor. Not just salt, that's for sure. The noodles were perfectly cooked, too. The portion of chicken katsu curry was very generous. The curry itself was velvety. The rice was nice and firm all throughout, not mushy like at other local places. The chicken katsu wasn't oily like at other places too. The prices are rising just because of the way our economy is right now. But, keep in mind, a big plate of food, a bowl of ramen, and a free can of soda for $14 is actually not bad these days, considering. (I got an Ōi Ocha green tea in a can--good option for those like me who are watching their sugar intake.
Not bad for good portions and local flavors. Prices are good.Wish the broth and ramen was just a little better.
Very good. Very quick and the food is always delicious. Always a go to for a last minute lunch idea at work.
