New Diner's Drive-in - Honolulu
New Diner's Drive-in
Description
Open 24 hours and known for an exceptional garlic salmon, this budget-friendly takeout spot serves made-to-order, generous plates with attentive service. Diners praise the charred, flavorful salmon, vinaigrette and wallet-friendly family meals, though quality can be inconsistent and some items have off flavors. Expect longer waits than fast-food chains. The location offers street parking and limited outdoor seating but no indoor dining or public restrooms, and can feel sketchy when busy at night. Best suited for takeout, late-night cravings and value-seeking families.

I had some tasty chicken katsu. No public restrooms and very limited outdoor seating at night. The food is good but take it to go and eat somewhere other than the parking lot. It's not a bad choice for one of the few 24 hour food options. It can be sketchy when busy since a lot of odd types hang out there at night.
I can confidently say that this is the best garlic salmon I have ever tasted. I was truly impressed by how delicious and flavorful it was. In fact, I went back twice the very next day. As for parking, there is ample space available right in front of the diner.
I often have lunch there with my uncle because the food is delicious, the atmosphere is excellent, and the customer service is friendly.
I heard about it from Akebono himself: Diner's chicken katsu. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones.
