Mama Phở - Honolulu
Mama Phở
Description
Mama Pho delivers consistently flavorful, customizable pho and enormous, fresh spring/fall rolls—generous portions that justify higher prices for many. Service ranges from brisk and attentive at lunch to chaotic during peaks, with occasional order mix-ups and unreliable phone takeout. The dining room is casual and busy; some patrons note a strong cleaning scent. Ideal for quick lunches, takeout, and hearty meals, but expect variability in speed and accuracy during busy times.

We wanted pho and we were in the area so we tried this pho place. Everything was fine. Quick pho spot after shopping along the east side. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I stopped by to make take out order. But if you do not plan to take it home to eat, it is better not to order pho. It was almost impossible for me to eat out of a big pot of soup. I also wish the portions were smaller because it also came with a high price. I enjoyed the spring rolls. 2 rolls for $8. Pho was $18. So not cheap for a meal for 1 person. I ordered takeout over the phone and was pleased with my experience. The food was delicious, and the staff was friendly. The No. 21 rice noodles are priced at $40 for two, which is on the higher side, but the generous portions of meat, vegetables, and noodles are worth it. The soup was particularly tasty and came with basil on the side, which was a nice touch. Luckily, cilantro is not included by default. The dish also featured peppers and jalapeños, which added some heat, so be cautious if you’re sensitive to spice!
The bowl of Pho is filled with plenty of rice noodles, but the portion of ingredients is on the smaller side, and the meat tends to be a bit dry. However, the soup itself is quite good—moderately salty and rich in flavor. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, it’s worth trying their chili oil, which is sold individually and in limited quantities. As for the fried spring rolls, they were satisfactory, but the outer wrapper could have been crispier.
