I came here twice while I was on vacation and it was exactly what I was looking for. I ordered Manhattan twice with a few substitutions. Everything was freshly prepared and tasteful. I was in Wakiki, so it was a nice little breakfast stop on the way to North Shore both occasions. The staff was also very friendly. View all feedback.
What Madeline B doesn't like about Lox Of Bagels:
I 'll preface this by saying I spent my first 25 years living in New York, so I know what a bagel should be. These are not bagels. They look like bagels, but they 're simply bagel-shaped bread. They taste like slightly undercooked, dense white bread. I really wanted to love them, but there was nothing to love. Recently, I visited their new location and inquired if they still offered the Malangaay bagel. To my surprise, the staff member scoffed and rudely responded that they hadn't had that for ten years. Wow. It’s disappointing to see such a lack of appreciation for a customer who would make the effort to return for a specific bagel. I don't expect to be treated like a friend, but I do think it's important for businesses to improve their customer service and be mindful of how they communicate with their patrons. This was definitely not the spirit of Aloha.
It’s not what it used to be. They only have plain cream cheese now—no flavored options or lox. Plus, they spread only a thin layer of cream cheese, so the bagel is almost visible underneath. I’m really disappointed.
I want to start by saying that I spent my first 25 years living in New York, so I know what a good bagel should taste like. Unfortunately, what I encountered here were not bagels. They may look like bagels, but they are merely bread shaped like bagels. The flavor reminded me of slightly undercooked, dense white bread. I genuinely wanted to enjoy them, but there was nothing about them that appealed to me. It pains me to criticize a locally-owned business, but spending $54 on two dozen sliced bagels—especially when they charge an extra 10 cents per bagel for slicing—only to receive something inferior to what you can get at Costco, warrants a poor review.
Loved loved loved this place! Got the cheese bagel with ham, eggs, cheese, butter added cream cheese. It sounds typical, but it was a heavy bagel sandwich in the best way! Not only was the bagel good, the service was amazing! I wish I got the names of the workers working that morning, but the energy that they gave off was something else, so kind, so sweet. It was a refreshing start to the morning when you got a grumbling tummy! Very deserving of all 5 stars! Going to try the taro bagel next!!!
My go-to place for my bagel fix. I always get the Manhattan delight (lox strips and cream cheese on an everything bagel). I try to support local businesses as much as possible.
