Helena's Hawaiian Food - Honolulu

I had recommendations for authentic Hawaiian food. Wasn't disappointed at all. We have a 4 meal combo, I think, and it came with 4 dishes of a bowl of rice. We finished it and were all full at the end of the only small pieces here and there of each bowl. There was a waiting time when we came here, there were 20 minutes. And their parking is not good, there are only 6 seats. No parking in the neighborhood.

My friend and I really enjoyed the food here. It's simple, but tasty, and prices are reasonable. A friend warned us that we might wait a long time as it is a popular place, but we were lucky and had to wait only about 5 minutes before we get a place. The short ribs were probably one of the best things I've ever eaten, and the pig was also great.

Great place for a typical Hawaiian dinner! We saw some YouTube videos before visiting Hawaii and they all recommended Helena’s. I'm so glad we left! The ribs were astonishingly recommend to do without them. I also loved the pig. Despite the long line, the food was ready in less than 10 minutes.

Bring friends or come alone, they will welcome you with open arms. Come early and save a table by checking in with your automated system and making a reservation, wait your turn and try everything you can because there is nothing in this restaurant that is bad. The squid, the fried butterfish, the short ribs, the pulled pig, the macaroni salad. I mean, honestly, everything was the most amazing loving food all over the world and I would hate that every one of you missed it. If the place is packed, you can go and eat it outside, I promise you it's worth it. Bring your vaccination card into your ID and an amazing setting because the servers take care of you like your family because that's what they did to me. Awesome dining experience. Waitresses were extremely nice and the waiting time was much shorter than expected. The restaurant is surprisingly clean and tidy inside. The food is phenomenal!!!! We love most dishes with taros including Lau Lau and squid. Their tripe stew was so tender and flavorful and we just wanted to dump everything into our mouth. The dessert was refreshing and tasty. I have to admit that we could not enjoy the poi, the fermented taro. But it was a good try. One advice is that you need to be patient to get the parking slot in front of the restaurant.
