During the holiday season, he had a fantastic deal: buy a sashimi platter for $75 and get a pound of poke for free. This offer is a steal! The fresh poke and sashimi were absolutely delicious. I chatted with Uncle Steven for a bit, and he generously threw in an extra pound of poke for us. He truly is the best. A quick note: if you can, please consider leaving a tip when ordering takeout! It’s not required, but I love supporting small businesses, especially during these challenging times. You can easily place orders by calling him or messaging through Instagram. He may be busy, but he responds quickly! Cheers to Da Hub! Be sure to check them out at one of their pop-up events or at their Kalihi location!
Since Hub Food Truck was at the hgea trade fair, and I ordered the seafood plate for $18 one day and this other combo plate with poke and ahi katsu for $18 the next day because it was so good. The portions of fresh fried fish were huge, so it was worth the price. I couldn't eat anything, so I saved half for dinner. My friend bought the frits for $8 and although not hot, it was tasteful and delicious. I have to look where this truck regularly parks because its thick fish parts are fresh, their shrimps are partly open, so it is easy to dish and eat with a fork and their sauces complement the dough of their fish and the generous part of the sweet spicy sauce with their shrimps that I am for more.
As Hub Truck came to the HGEA Grindz event on Thursday in Honolulu city centre. The line for this place was long. I had the Ahi Katsu/Spicy Ahi Poke. Wow! Yummy! The Ahi Katsu presentation looked fantastic. Topped with spicy Mayo, unagi sauce I think) and seasoned with Furikake. By the way, it tastes good. Expect ahi to be a bit on the dry side, but still delicious and it is fresh fish. Not salty for those who observe their sodium supply. Very crisp panko. Next was the pots of spicy ahi poke yummy and fresh do not think that it was frozen before). Definitely not sown with the spicy Mayo and there is a generous amount of pieces of raw cube ahi with mix again with furikake spice. Bit on the Pricy side $18) but we will appreciate your taste buds and your supporting local businesses. My staff also enjoyed his food and was very satisfied with his ahi Katsu and smoked meat. Definitely will try this place again for the other foods on the menu spicy Ahi Nachos) when they are back in the city center. Accepts cash, credit/debit card.
Do not go to popular tourist places with overpriced food. Come here. The menu is a kind of hit or miss, but the food is actually tasteful and a good value. I would avoid the poke and the chicken wings as I found them to be honest, but the fish dishes and shrimps were great. The beef was good, but a bit salty (it is similar to Korean Galbi-Chjim) and the scallops were ok. I will take friends and family who will definitely visit here and lead them away from the mostly local tourist places.
