The bread here is fantastic—just as good as what I buy back in Poland. However, the last time I visited, I bought two loaves and unfortunately, both were overbaked, almost burnt, and I wasn’t happy with them. For $9, I expect them to be perfect! I noticed that the bread is handed to you wrapped up at the window, so you can’t see it before taking it. Next time, I will definitely ask to check the bread before I accept it to avoid this kind of disappointment.
Everything is worth trying! I ordered the pineapple brooch, along with four pieces of savory and sweet potato dishes, and a potato cake. The puff pastry was excellently made, featuring a deliciously crispy and buttery texture that wasn't overly rich. Among the pastries I tried were: Pecan Praline Snail, Butterscotch Apple with Cinnamon, Strawberry Tart, Mexican Hot Chocolate, Zucchini with Garlic Cream Cheese and Herbs, and Prosciutto and Gruyère Croissant. I also had the Taego, Spinach, and Manchego Croissant, as well as a Cookie Butter and Macadamia Nut Twice-Baked Croissant. My personal favorites were the last three croissants; their flavors were simply incredible. The pineapple brooch is a significant dish, and I'll be satisfied for a while after freezing some slices. The potato cake was also quite large, and it's best when reheated before enjoying.
On my last day on the island, I ordered four baked goods, and I really wish I had gotten more to take home. They were, without a doubt, the best pastries I've ever had, and I've tried many! I highly recommend ordering online in advance for pickup, as some items tend to sell out. It’s definitely worth the trip!
Disregard those who claim the baked goods are burnt; they clearly don't appreciate the beauty of an egg wash on pastries or a well-developed crust! I would gladly pay a premium for this level of quality and variety any day. Once you get the hang of preordering, the excitement of waiting for these treats makes receiving that box even more delightful. I haven't encountered a bakery that blends local flavors with Western European flair as effectively as this one. Get it while it's fresh!
