Los Parras - Holyoke
Los Parras
Description
Refreshed and bright, this casual spot serves flavorful Mexican dishes and standout desserts—fried ice cream and churros draw praise—and comes with fresh chips and salsa. Many diners enjoy hot plates, margaritas, and a clean dining room that feels summer-ready.
However, experiences vary: customers report inconsistent portioning, order mistakes, inattentive or slow service, and occasional long waits that undermine perceived value. Best visited when not rushed; expect great flavors when the kitchen and staff are aligned.

I had the worst dining experience of my life at this restaurant. The service was atrocious; we waited two hours for our meals and only got one drink refill when our food finally came. If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would. It was so frustrating that I could have prepared five meals at home in less time than it took to get a drink. Overall, it was a dreadful experience, and I will never go back. Avoid this place at all costs!
Excellent food and service! They accommodated my dietary restriction by honoring my request for no cheese.
I ordered a smothered beef burrito, which had only about two spoonfuls of what I assume was ground beef inside, all wrapped in a tortilla that was the size of a baby blanket. It was soaked in canned green chili sauce and came with a side of beans and rice. This dish cost $13. I also had a flat Diet Pepsi for $4. My wife ordered the same $13 burrito along with a house margarita for $8. Our total came to $40. While I'm open to spending that amount for lunch, I expect a quality meal for the price. Honestly, I don't think my plate had even a dollar's worth of food; most of it was just tortilla. We visited Los Parras about a year ago and enjoyed the meal, but the quality seems to have declined since then. On a positive note, the restaurant looks remodeled and clean, but I should have paid attention to the fact that it was mostly empty during lunch on a Saturday.
