Strathy Inn
Description
Craig and Heather are delighted to welcome you to our family-run coaching inn, nestled amidst the breathtaking and untouched landscapes of Scotland’s northern coast. Dating back around two hundred years, our inn originally served as a resting place for weary travellers traversing the north coast road. Today, we strive to offer our guests comfortable accommodation, hearty home-cooked meals, and a friendly atmosphere, making it an inviting stop for both visitors and the local community. With our Strathy B&B accommodation, you’ll find a wonderful holiday base right here. Strathy is a charming crofting community located at the mouth of the River Strathy, featuring a stunning beach full of caves just waiting to be explored, as well as excellent surfing opportunities. Not far away, Strathy Point offers breathtaking coastal views, rugged cliffs, and striking rock arches. It's also one of the rare habitats for the enchanting Scottish Primrose and serves as an exceptional vantage point for spotting whales, dolphins, and porpoises in the Highlands. There's an abundance to see and do while enjoying a Strathy B&B holiday. The Strathy Inn serves as a superb central base for those keen to explore the far North Highlands, from the magnificent Cape Wrath to the iconic John O’Groats, not to mention the beautiful remote straths, peatlands, and mountains in-between. Our inn is also an ideal stop for those planning trips to Orkney, where you can delve into a history that stretches back 5,000 years, from the ancient settlement of Scara Brae to the awe-inspiring Standing Stones of Stenness. Nature thrives around Strathy, with opportunities to spot puffins along the cliffs and a variety of birds at the nearby RSPB reserve in Forsinard. You'll often have the chance to see dolphins and occasionally even whales right from Strathy Point. If you're looking for local activities, you can indulge in surfing, kayaking, as well as walking and cycling. We are situated on the North Coast 500 (NC500) route and the LEJOG (Lands End to John O’Groats) route, alongside several other cycling paths. There are also fishing opportunities for salmon and trout, while golf enthusiasts can visit nearby courses at Reay, Castle of Mey and Dunrobin Castle for a delightful day out. Whether you’re returning from an adventurous day or simply unwinding, every guest at the Strathy Inn can expect a warm welcome and delicious food to enjoy. We look forward to hosting you in our beautiful corner of the world!.

Delicious Scottish meals! The desserts were also great, especially the homemade Corkney fudge and whisky cheesecake!
Good friendly host. The menu is limited but still a very good choice. Both myself and my wife enjoyed the meals served which were good sized portions with a variety of fresh veg. The Stathy's main claim to fame for me was a large variety of Scottish beers (bottled) including varous beers from Orkney.
During our tour of Scotland and the Highlands, we had dinner at this charming inn. We were staying at a lovely guest house nearby and they recommended we dine here. Since Strathy is not crowded, it's best to make a reservation in advance. We stopped by in the morning and when we rang the bell, the owner kindly booked us a table, specifying the time we needed to be there. The dinner was excellent, with a menu featuring traditional Scottish starters, main courses, and desserts, as well as a dish of the day. We opted for the dish of the day and it was incredibly delicious, as was the dessert. The owner was friendly and helpful, providing explanations of the dishes and attending to any needs we had. It was a pleasure to chat with him about various topics. We felt warmly welcomed and are grateful for his kindness and the fantastic meal we enjoyed. We hope to return one day. Highly recommended! Oliviero and Silvia, from Milan.
We enjoyed our stay at this cozy, family-owned bed and breakfast. Our room was large and bright, with a private bathroom. The breakfast served was delicious and homemade. The B&B also had a bar and restaurant on site, offering a variety of home-cooked meals (including options for vegetarians and vegans) and a well-stocked bar.
