First time here, it's always 50/50 when I go place I've never been before, it was excellent! Fantastic chicken salad sandwich on grill, corn nuggets potato salad I asked for sample of cole slaw, will pass on it, prefer juicy sweet. Carrie from Conn., was our great waitress very nice. Just wished they had some kind of cobbler, peach, cherry, blackberry etc with whipped cream, pls add. View all feedback.
What christopher trochez doesn't like about Granny's Country Kitchen Hickory:
My wife got the club sandwich and she said it was good. I got the 4 vegetable choices. I picked mashed potatoes, pinto beans, collard greens and okra. Potatoes were instant, pintos and collards were from the can and okra was frozen, which I suspected it would be, but the others I thought would be fresh. Granny must have been off that day. Service was great but not going back because of the food. View all feedback.
The food and service was great. We couldn't have asked for better. The country fried steak was huge!!!! It covered the whole plate. My son couldn't eat it all. My sirloin tips and salad was perfect.
Gracious quantities of food with pre-covid pricing. our meal was hot fresh and tasty. best Southern cooked food I have had in a long time. I would have given them five stars but all of their drinking cups had nicks around around the rim.
My wife ordered the club sandwich and thought it was quite good. I chose the four vegetable sides: mashed potatoes, pinto beans, collard greens, and okra. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes were instant, the pinto beans and collard greens came from a can, and the okra was frozen, which I had suspected. I had hoped for fresher options. It seems like the kitchen might have had an off day. The service was excellent, but I won’t be returning because of the food.
I really enjoyed the Hash and the Arnold Palmer tea, but I have to pass on everything else. The meat was so salty that I ended up with a terrible headache for hours afterward. The service was pleasant, and we were seated fairly quickly. Just a heads up, you might want to bring your own butter, as they only offer spread for the toast, and I prefer butter. The cups were quite old and worn out, which was a bit off-putting. On a positive note, my scrambled eggs were very good. I might consider going back, but just for the basics.
I discovered this place while searching for "breakfast near me" during my travels, and I'm glad I did! The food is comforting and authentic, and the service is outstanding. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking delicious home-cooked meals in a charming atmosphere.
