Stopped in for a couple of shakes during this hot North Carolina summer day. It was cool that this is an old style, you order outside. What Patty Parris doesn't like about Dairy Queen:
It's the only DQ in Hickory and it's only open seasonally. They re-open on the first day of spring but do not have the spring seasonal treats (or they have limited spring offerings). They're closed over winter, so obviously never have the coveted peppermint treats. The younger staff are always pleasant and helpful, while the older staff are terse and unpleasant. I had a fantastic experience at this Dairy Queen! It's independently owned, which is a nice touch, and the customer service really reflects that. We ordered a cake for my daughter's 10th birthday party, and she requested a chicken and a strawberry on it—and they delivered perfectly! Everyone loved it. Plus, they were able to make it gluten-free, so all of our guests could enjoy it as well.

We got an Oreo brownie sundae but they forgot the Oreos. We went back and they corrected it.
