Hands down the best ski resort for beginners. The greens are long and gentle with several beginning at the summit. The trails were well groomed and held up well into the afternoon despite warmer weather and traffic. It is a no frills, local mountain with a very laid back vibe. You won't find a ton of amenities here but honestly if you are doing a shorter day or skiing you don't need them. The crowds weren't bad at all considering this was the week between Christmas and New Years where it is peak season. I think this is because Epic Pass holders and more experienced skiers prefer other mountains. The blue trails are not very challenging for more experienced skiers so it may not be as enjoyable. Can't speak for the blacks trails. Also may not be the best option for snowboarders unless you hit it on a powder day. But for beginner skiers, you can't beat Pat's Peak!
I have been going here for three years now. Perfect place for beginner and intermediate skiing. It can get crowded during mid day. It helps that is open at night. Can't wait to go back. And the food is great!
Pat's is the best version of itself: an unpretentious, family-friendly, well-run, convenient and affordable ski area. Small for the region, but they get the most out of it with aggressive snowmaking, fast lift lines, good crowd management and sensible planning, and lights! I grew up night skiing, and this is the best-lit spot in New England, with the most accessible hours. They put their money into the mountain they have, not trying to market themselves as the next Vail (which has done a pretty lame job managing the customer experience at the local properties they've taken over recently! Pat's website is very AOL-era, but if you know what you're looking for, it's all you need. This probably goes back to getting the basics right, keeping their costs (and prices! under control, and not trying to show off or bring in the luxury tourism crowd at the expense of the average enthusiast. Very on-brand--wouldn't change a thing. Not the place I'd go for an epic pow weekender, but just what the doctor ordered for most of the season. And it happens to be very pretty, too. If you've got a bad attitude about noobs here to learn the sport you supposedly love, or you need to be spoiled on and off the snow, don't let the door hit you on the way out. If you can chill and appreciate everyday user-friendliness, affordability, and maximizing quality time on the snow over posing or being pampered, you'll love it here.
This review is based upon the people at pats peak not the mountain itself because that would be a 5 star rating but the ticket checkers were rude and wouldn't let me get on the lift until they checked my ticket about 5 times especially on the peak triple overall not a great experience
Pats Peak ski area is without a doubt, one of the best run ski resorts in the United States. What it lacks in size and steeps, it more than makes up in efficiency, courtesy, and absolute enjoyment. During this Covid pandemic, I have to say that before times that I went to Pats Peak during this past season, I felt absolutely safe and without a worry, especially during this horrible pandemic. Their serious attitude towards health protocols made me comfortable to come here. With 770 vertical feet, it has the feel of a much larger place, given the extensive backside terrain, the few but credible steeps, and the excellent organization prevalent in the resort. From ticket purchasing to apres ski, the place hums with activity. The new lodge addition is superb, well designed, warm and expansive. The common room has a gigantic fireplace that sheds coziness and comfort. The Sled Pub has local brews and good food. Pats Peak is an amazing place to bring a family or school group. And as well, a place to make excellent turns in the midst of a well run ski area.
