Daniels - Henniker
Daniels
Description
Nestled by the river, this restaurant offers a mixed dining experience that leaves guests divided. While the atmosphere boasts a beautiful view and great cocktails, food quality seems inconsistent, with reviews highlighting underseasoned dishes and average pub fare. Some diners rave about the clam chowder and crab cakes, while others express disappointment in their meals. Service is generally noted as friendly and attentive, although some guests experienced frustrations with seating arrangements and inaccurate hours. Overall, while the venue shows potential for memorable meals, it may require fine-tuning to elevate the dining experience and cater to diverse tastes.

Nice restaurant that was on our way south from VT. Has lovely views of the river and a very nice waitress. We arrived when it was pretty empty so it was pretty relaxing. I got something like a taco salad, which was made cheaply despite the large portion.
Severely understaffed. I chose this place for a birthday dinner. The manager was apologizing from the beginning. They should not have been open because all they did was insure that dozens of customers will never come back. The bathroom toilet was cloggedand smelled disgusting. My dinner was well prepared and tasty but my fiance had baked fish that had an unidentified taste that Ican only describe as charcoal. Our patio table was so dark that we couldn't we could not see out food so I have no idea what wasin her meal. Very disturbing and disappointed. I will never go back and can't recommend what was a wonderful restaurant.
I always take the extra step to be courteous and call a restaurant before visiting, just to be sure their hours listed are correct. Around 7pm I called to confirm they were open a man answered the phone, obviously frustrated about something, yelled atme over the phone that No they weren't open and they can't do it anymore. confused by what that all meant, I asked nicely ifhis hours were wrong on the internet and asked if he wanted them changed to the correct time and he raised his voice once againat me again over the phone asking why would I do that?! I explained that I was just passing through and was looking forward tovisiting their restaurant but if they aren't open I would happily update their hours for them online. The guy calmed down a bitand said they actually close at 8 on Sundays and not 9. Then told me that while im at it updating their hours to tell everyoneto help these poor people and find them workers. Needless to say, I've eaten in many restaurants and I've managed a restaurantfor more than half my life. I'm fully aware of the desperate need to help everywhere but never have I ever talked to anypotential customer over the phone this way. I have never taken my frustrations with the lack of help out on someone calling toinquire about hours. I can see why they have a hard time keeping employees if this is how this man talks to his help.
We had an amazing experience at Daniel's Pub. We had their french onion soup to start and oh my was it AWESOME! We had the french dip and Reuben too for our sandwiches and those were excellent too. The bread tasted freshly baked!! From start tofinish and including the atmosphere were all wonderful. We live an hour away but I would most definitely drive it JUST to go toDaniel's again! To add to this our waitress was so kind and on top of everything. We will definitely be back .... and hopefullysoon!
We went there on our family camping vacation. 5 adults 3 kids. The building itself is beautiful, location and view of the river, stunning, the service wonderful. Carly was awesome. The food, horrible. New England Baked Haddock had a horrible taste and smeltbad. 3 of us got that. Bland butternut ravioli, watery French onion soup, watery clam chowder, bland mac and cheese. I cantdescribe how upset we were. We did not let Carly know because she wasn't the cook. This place could be a goldmine but they needto hire a new cook or show them how to use spices. I never leave a review but felt I had to in this case. Missed opportunitythere.
