We were looking for an open place to eat at dawn, indicated to us the vater rhein. rustic environment, very rock playing. good and cheap food( little varied, however) recommended! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Vater Rhein:
Finally we found some real Heidelberg under all the touristy surface. Not a fancy or polished place by the river Neckar. Cigarettes, cheap beer and local people. Take the ride. View all feedback.
We stumbled on Father Rhein when we walked along the banks of the Neckar River. It is a small pocket-friendly bar with beautiful outdoor seating and a very friendly hostess. We tried their flame cake (German flat bread similar to pizza) and potato salad with sausages (Kartatosalat). Both dishes were amazing. Flamecake was so light and tasty that we ordered two. The hostess was so hospitable and friendly. She patiently told us about the dishes in English understanding that we do not speak German. The prices were so affordable and the food was delicious. Definitely a thumb up!
The impoliteness of the waiter (the old man with a moustache) exceeds all limits. From the minute 1 we went into the bar, he treats us super rude, I dont think is the way to treat people who goes there to eat and drink with friends. The waitress was very nice, polite and friendly, I feel for her, having to work with such a character next to her.
In front of the pandemic, this was the place with nice people who have served you in an inviting manner. The male, young operation of today is not in place to express it mild. A beautiful evening with friends unfortunately found a disappointing evil end at many of us. If the customer is interpreted as an enemy in the inappropriate slogans of the young waiter, a nice student pub becomes a place of disappointment... very bad. : There was a good farewell: “You don’t have to come back here!”
