we came across this caffe, just around the corner of our hotel. first I wanted to get up and go because the service was only slowly greeting us and not very welcoming. I could give details about the rudeness, but I am glad that we have ignored it, as I had one of the best meals of the trip. as a native and grown-up German mother, I have swallowed the semmelknoedel-with-pilz cream sauce (semmelknödel in Rahm-Champigno... What Gesine Bayer doesn't like about Cafe Knosel:
on a cold, rainy day in heidelberg we stopped in this local place to drink a coffee and eat something. the service was very slow and when he was finally served, it is hard to say whether the waiter was rude or very unblunted and unfriendly. the black forests were very good. Although the cake was good, it was still hard to bear the cost for a piece of cake and coffee. it was not cheap as the bill was 15 euro for both. View all feedback.
I love this place for their cake. I had lunch too, and it was pretty good. Unfortunately, coffee and hot chocolate are not the best, but German art.

Stop them here on a rainy day in heidelberg. nothing special, only relax with good eating, has the Wienerschnitzel and the apfelstrudel, both were great.
Beautifully located near the market place and the old bridge. fabulous generous portions and so; we also had a very pleasant (and generous) Slalad lunch
With a bakery or a café in Germany you can hardly make anything wrong. this place was not taken. it was not too full in the early afternoon and it proved to be the right place for a quick coffee and cake stop. we all enjoyed it. the coffee was a good German brew, and the cakes were excellent. the service was standard for Germany - not fast because they want to take time and enjoy eating, but in order. they first choose their torte and then take a place. if they follow the relaxed European style, they will enjoy it. I would like to come back here and wish we had such good cakes in the usa. Although this is first line a caffe, they also serve normal meals.
