First time popping in for lunch. Had a sandwich that was full of flavour. Smoked turkey with honey mustard and swiss on valley cereal bread. Wish they offered a soup sandwich combo though. (at least I didn't see one) didn't ask either as I thought of it after placing my order and while looking over soup menu while waiting for my sandwich. View all feedback.
Windmill Cafe offers delicious sandwiches on their freshly baked breads, homemade soup, along with other luncheon choices. Menu is somewhat limited, but a cheerful atmosphere, good coffee and homemade desert choices.
While touring the area with guests from out of town, we decided to stop here for a light lunch. The chicken salad sandwiches were excellent, full of flavor and made with 'real' chicken...on homemade bread. The coffee was smooth and hot. As others have stated, the Windmill Cafe is attached to the Sourdough bakery. You place your order in the bakery section which gives you a chance to pick your dessert options too! The muffins, pies, tarts, doughnuts are all beautifully prepared and made fresh daily. Will definitely return to eat in or pick up a sandwich for a picnic.
The restaurant is attached to the Sourdough Bakery. The restaurant offers light lunch items (sandwiches, pie, coffee) and the attached bakery offers freshly baked goods - all of which are excellent. The bread is made on site and they have quite a few varieties. The pastries are all excellent and the doughnuts are some of the best anywhere. Very good assortment of muffins. They are a touch on the expensive side but worth it.
Great stop for a snack or meal. Delicious food , excellent service ,very very clean.Shane , your Chef , willing to tell you ingredients etc. Very pleased with Bakery purchases. The BEST tea biscuits , wonderful home made bread. Highly recommend the mulligatawny soup & corn chowder. A wrap ? Try the chicken & bacon. Everything is DELICIOUS !!!!! Located past Valley Drive In , on the right , going west on Route # 1. Guarantee, you will return , I know I will !!!!
I stumbled upon this place quite by accident a while ago. Let me be clear though, I've never 'ate in'; the addition of a cafe style restaurant was added after I became a 'semi-regular'. Originally it was a bakery that served coffee, which is why I stopped in for the first time. They offer take out, which is what my rating is based on. When you walk in, the amazing smells and warm atmosphere are what greet you but only mere seconds before the wonderful staff does. The Sour Dough Bakery and Windmill Cafe is the name on the building and believe it or not, everything they serve is homemade. Even the coffee is delicious! The sandwiches are scrumptious, being made with your choice of bread (homemade) or wrap, with whatever veggies you would like and some surprising and delicious condiment options. I could rave on and on about the baked goods and homemade jams and pickles and homemade doggie treats and all; but word-of-mouth can't beat 'in-the-mouth'. You need to stop in, if not for the baked goodies then for the warmth and comfort of kind and genuine people who know how to brew a pot of coffee and make you feel welcome.
