The shop downstairs has a lot of high-quality equipment, and I ended up spending £200 on a new North Face jacket before leaving. It's dangerous to have such a great walking shop below a great cafe when you're a walker - your bank account takes a hit. I highly recommend this place. I would definitely go back to Hathersage and this cafe shop.

The staff were/are friendly... read more On my last day in Sheffield I took the train to Hathersage to look around and to visit the legendary Outside outdoor shop and cafe. The staff were/are friendly and helpful and even looked at the train times for me and another one helped me choose some postcards. The shop itself has a wide range of climbing gear including shoes. The cafe was busy but the lady serving there helped me find a table. As there was 1/2 hour wait for food I decided to have a Rocky Rhode cake, a cappuccino and a Belvoir drink. The cappuccino was first class and the cake was very soft and very fresh. If you are in Hathersage or nearby I would definitely go to Outside. I would highly recommend Outside.

E... read more We initially began coming to this cafe for Sunday breakfast several years ago, as it was the only place in the Hope Valley that offered breakfast at the time. Eventually, we stopped coming for breakfast, probably because other places started serving breakfast too. However, we recently rediscovered this wonderful cafe and enjoyed a delicious breakfast and sandwiches for lunch today. I ordered the smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich, which was excellent with generous portions of cream cheese and salmon. The prices are very reasonable and we will definitely be returning to Outside.

The hot sandwiches... read more Been in this shop numerous times but never realised there was cafe upstairs. Lovely cafe and very reasonably priced. Good choice on the menu. The hot sandwiches were produced quickly, numbing the pain of the money we had spent downstairs on new hiking gear . Great place to shop and eat.
