Description

Tucked into the Philadelphia area, this family-run Italian bakery serves authentic, freshly baked pastries, cookies, gelato and custom cakes with seasonal specialties like marzipan and pignoli. Customers praise the nostalgic aroma, generous selection and generally friendly, helpful counter staff who keep service moving during busy periods. Reasonably priced and a destination for holiday treats, the shop’s homemade offerings feel lovingly crafted—though some visitors note spotty cleanliness and occasional brusque service that temper an otherwise memorable bakery experience.

We asked for orange peels, and her husband came out instead, smiling and appearing much friendlier than she was. When I called the store with a question, her attitude was dismissive, and she didn’t crack a smile at all – it was so uninviting that it made my stomach turn. I told my husband I didn't want to buy anything, especially since he didn’t have $70 to spend on baked goods. After that conversation, she claimed she was nice, but it was clear she hadn’t spoken to us. This was a disappointing experience, and I won’t be returning to a business that comes so highly recommended. I’ll stick to my local Italian bakeries back home.

It was when I went to a bakery when I was young. The pastries were wonderful, cake was the best I had for years. And my grandson said, “No, these cookies are as good as you.” High praise

I called the store afterwards to inquire about the service, but the owner remained dismissive and didn't even crack a smile—her coldness was unsettling. I told my husband that I no longer wanted anything from the bakery, especially since he didn't have $70 to spend on baked goods. After our conversation, she insisted that she was nice, but it was clear she wasn't speaking about us. It was a disappointing experience, and I won't be returning to a place that came highly recommended. I'll stick to my favorite Italian bakeries in Brooklyn.
