The green curry was pretty good - somewhat of a small portion. The "Deep Fried Cubed Tofu with a Ring of Broccoli topped with Black Bean Sauce" was excellent - great taste and the portion was massive! Our server was nice. The restaurant is modern and chic. View all feedback.
What Auðbjörn Geirhjörts doesn't like about Ben Than Veit-THai Restaurant:
Have dined here a few times. Usually when we can't unanimously decide on a restaurant! Friendly staff seem to be the same people working before the renovations, now a different name. Atmosphere is clean and modern. Free parking at rear for about 8 cars.Their let down was the food. Papaya salad-too much fish sauceChunks of steak overcooked.PadThai-tasted a lot like the well-known squeezy bottle tomato sauceLamb skewe... View all feedback.
Not many staff speak english although they make an effort to assist. Service is fast, soups are delicious and the sprouts and lemon grass come on the side for you to add as you desire. The grilled pork is very good and the complimentary tea is always appreciated. Vermicelli dishes are noodle heavy but very flavourful. At busy times, lining up at the cash register to pay can be a hassle and congested. I have been there many times and have never been disappointed. Bubble tea is refreshing and tasty. Prices are great!
My family decided to try this place and we regretted it since. First, when the food came out, I noticed my extra large pho has the same amount of noodles and meat as my daughter's small pho. I just have a bigger bowl and more soup. I called the waiter, who took my bowl of pho back into the kitchen. After around 10 minutes, he brought the bowl back and said, "they want to tell you that this is the right amount of stuff" and left.Well, I am not happy but ate my pho anyway. The pho is not as good as other pho place in Hamilton. Then my wife pointed out to everyone that under the table, the floor is filthy. After we finished, the girls went to the washroom but came back in less then a minute. They said the washroom is so dirty that they cannot use it.At this time, we just decided to go elsewhere for coffee, desert and continue our conversation. With poor food, poor quantity and dirty, dirty place, we will never go there again.
Stopped in for lunch. Decor modern and clean. Service friendly and efficient.Started with beef/avocado fresh spring rolls. They were very good. I had
Recently relocated to James Street, this is a nice-looking place with two modern rooms. The service is friendly and they offer helpful guidance on the menu. The menu is an eclectic south asian, with pho, chinese and dim sum. The shrimp dumplings are enormous and a tad sticky. There is an avocado beef roll that's very, very nice. The spicy chicken wings are very addictive but extremely greasy. The mango salad is pretty average stuff. This is a lovely spot to stop for a quick lunch downtown.
Ate here quite a bit, I recommend many of the vermicelli and noodle dishes. The normal pho here is quite bland, but the tom yum and beef stew noodle soup stock is quite delicious. Gets a tad hectic at times, and my order is sometimes mixed up, but is easily fixed with nice servers. This only happens when it gets really busy however.
