During our visit, it was peaceful and the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine and some delicious food.

Looking for a light lunch... read more We were in Halifax for a few hours and took in the Nova Scotia Art Gallery, which is undergoing lengthy building works and hence free. Looking for a light lunch we went into the small cafe on the ground floor which was very clean and fresh looking. We were greeted by a very friendly young lady and enquired about a light lunch. The chef, Luther Shaver, makes great soups, and on our visit the choice was "Spiced Carrot and Roasted Apple Bisque" - delicious, with a little chilli oil on the surface giving it a splendid kick. It comes paired with a chicken pannini, we asked if we could share the one meal and were told "no problem"; so the waitress brought two cups of the delicious soup and the halved sandwich, thus providing one of those small lunches that was just right for the occasion.
