We had heard a lot about it as a newer place with quite a bit of buzz around it, and we love trying new spots in the city. When we arrived, there was a friendly guy at the entrance who took our coats and welcomed us, which was a nice touch. The restaurant itself is pretty small, and we were seated shortly after. Overall, the service was polite, but it didn’t really feel genuine. A few different staff members came over and explained the dishes when they were brought out, which felt a bit unnecessary, especially since we couldn’t really hear or fully understand what was being said. Our server also tried to be friendly and make small talk, but it didn’t feel very natural or sincere either. We also spoke briefly with one of the owners, who seemed nice, but again, it didn’t feel very genuine. The food was okay, but definitely not worth the very high prices. If the prices were more reasonable, it probably would have felt like better value. One thing that disappointed us was the gnocchi we ordered, it didn’t look or taste like what’s shown on their social media. Online it appears with lots of truffle pieces, but on our plate we could barely notice or taste any truffle at all. We only realized this afterward when we checked their photos again. Overall, it felt like the restaurant was trying too hard to be upscale and trendy, but for us it wasn’t anything special and didn’t feel worth the price. I probably wouldn’t recommend it. David made it feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant. The steak is so good. The pastas are out of this world. We went with our family and it was a great family dinner. We also were there a few nites earlier for late nite drinks and apps and it was super vibing for that. One of the best experiances in Halifax Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I finally had the chance to dine at Tribute on the waterfront, and the experience was fantastic. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable. I lucked out with one of the best seats at the kitchen bar, where I could watch the chef skillfully work the open wood fire. The drinks were outstanding—the wood-fired Negroni had a subtle smoky char that perfectly complemented the flavors, and the Bourbon-based Urban Legend, a twist on a whiskey sour, was spot on. I ordered the Halibut, and it was one of the best fish dishes I've had in Halifax. The smoke-infused flavors were incredible, and the presentation was flawless. Watching the chef prepare the other dishes has me eager to return—the steak is already calling my name. The service was attentive and welcoming. A fantastic spot—I can’t wait to come back.
