Murphy's - Halifax
Murphy's
Description
Despite some positive reviews praising the fish and chips and the overall service, a recent incident of food poisoning involving a lobster roll has overshadowed the dining experience at this seaside restaurant. The lack of response from management and the unsanitary conditions described by one customer have raised concerns about food handling procedures. While some customers have enjoyed their meals and the scenic views, the cleanliness of the restaurant and the handling of the food poisoning incident have left a sour taste for others. It seems that mixed reviews and experiences characterize this establishment.

Went spent a few hours there, enoying afternoon beverages. Well staffed. Had the scallop app's, which were awesome.
Murphy's was a real disappointment. We were looking forward to some traditional local seafood and a waterfront dining experience. I opted for fish and chips as I expected that it was a local specialty. The fish portion was small and the batter seasoning completely overpowered the fish. There could have been anything under that batter and I would hardly have been the wiser. My vegetable sides of roasted carrots and summer squash were very good, but the portions were absolutely stingy. I'm not a big eater...I really don't appreciated the gigantic portions of some restaurants, but Murphy's left me still hungary.
Walked in, sat down, and then walked out. We were seated in the far corner at the very back. One look at the table was enough to send me back out the door. Painted yellow table, black with filth. Floors were even worse. One of the filthiest restaurants I have ever been in. Could not speak to as what the food would have been like as we did not order.
This was our first time visiting this restaurant. We arrived close to closing time and were seated outside. It seemed like they may have forgotten about us because we waited about 20 minutes before receiving any service. However, once our server came, they were friendly and accommodating. They even offered us complimentary drinks and gave us a 15% discount on our bill for the inconvenience. I wasn't too upset about the wait as it can happen sometimes, and I appreciate the effort to make it right. My only issue was that the portions were a bit small for the price, even though the food was delicious. I may not come here frequently due to the cost, but it's definitely worth a visit if you can afford it!
