Murphy's - Halifax
Murphy's
Description
Despite some positive reviews praising the fish and chips and the overall service, a recent incident of food poisoning involving a lobster roll has overshadowed the dining experience at this seaside restaurant. The lack of response from management and the unsanitary conditions described by one customer have raised concerns about food handling procedures. While some customers have enjoyed their meals and the scenic views, the cleanliness of the restaurant and the handling of the food poisoning incident have left a sour taste for others. It seems that mixed reviews and experiences characterize this establishment.

This was our first time visiting this restaurant. We arrived close to closing time and were seated outside. It seemed like they may have forgotten about us because we waited about 20 minutes before receiving any service. However, once our server came, they were friendly and accommodating. They even offered us complimentary drinks and gave us a 15% discount on our bill for the inconvenience. I wasn't too upset about the wait as it can happen sometimes, and I appreciate the effort to make it right. My only issue was that the portions were a bit small for the price, even though the food was delicious. I may not come here frequently due to the cost, but it's definitely worth a visit if you can afford it!
Good place to eat with a very good view of the harbour. Service that we experienced was very good. We enjoyed both the fish and chips and a shrimp dish. Not our first visit and will be back again.
Very happy with out visit to Murphy's when we were in Nova Scotia, right as the lockdown was beginning in March. They have 2 levels so we took the Ocean view on the 1st floor. Very nice menu, they offer 3 sizes of Lobster if that is what you are going for and they are market priced accordingly. I had the jumbo shrimp app with the fisherman's pie it was very very good. Will repeat on our next trip to NS once we are past Covid
The restaurant is situated in the harbor, offering a great view. The service is top-notch and the food is superb. We opted for the lobster meal, which was at least 1.5-2 lbs and cooked perfectly. The cole slaw and potato salad were delicious, while the apple crisp was on the sweeter side but still enjoyable. The buns were served cold, but when requested, the server promptly toasted them. I struggled with cracking one claw and the server graciously assisted me. Overall, I am very pleased with Murphy's and will certainly be back.
