Argyle Bar & Grill - Halifax

We stopped here for dinner early on a Friday. There seemed to be a few specials and we were able to sit up on the rooftop patio. It's too bad that the street is all torn up but that is not the fault of the business. The food was fine, we enjoyed the patio, our waitress was good, bathrooms were gross.

This is an average pub, not fancy but I get the feeling that is the intent. Old characteristics which make it unique. Sit down bar plus tables and booths. Could be a party atmosphere on a busy night. Short menu but enough choices for most people. No parking.

My first night in Halifax (My 3rd trip in 6 months) my boyfriend takes me to his favorite Saturday night haunt, the Argyle, for his favorite mussels in the city. I definitely understand why. Great rustic atmosphere with a true Haligonian spirit. I also had the lamb burger which was new to me; although I love lamb I had never had it ground. Perfectly seasoned, cooked and presented. That with a garden salad side and their house dressing made for the perfect return dinner.

Was really excited to go for burger week and decided to go on the last day. Went on the website to make sure about the hours and got to the restaurant at 840 pm. Was told kitchen was closed... was disappointed that during a time like burger week they seem to close whenever want to despite hours posted.

Went w/friends for supper & nibbles. Had to wait for friends & so the bf & i had wings. Before the wings came the watress brought to a table that had no light. Ordered wings & was the wrong kind brought to the table (they were yummy). The bf ordered coffee and it was horrible - served cold. The waitress made it right as best she could. Then friends came & we ordered & the food was overall ok. If you want pub food and nothing to write home about & simple this is the place to eat.
