What Joseph Griffin doesn't like about Afrite:
The food here doesn't seem to be the same every day. It seems that the chef uses fresh ingredients at the chef's discretion and cooks with his own recipe. Sometimes the customer is the subject of the food experiment. Of course, it can be delicious food or bad food to the customer's taste. I ate duck meat. What a great place. Small and cozy. A rotating menu. We had something that was just added to the menu today. Chicken Sharma dumplings. Very dish (and we had a few) was excellent. Our family will be back.
Good food. The pork belly on a steamed bun was awesome. Singapore noodles were bland. Blue cheese duck confit was delicious, and the fish fritter was pretty good. Tasty mezze board but overpriced for what you get- very tiny portions of dips and no meat (which is fine but we thought was overpriced). Also, small pours on the wine. Nice ambiance, good service, great selection of rich dishes.
Always a great experience at A Frite. One of my favourite places.
We went to aFrite for a New Year's Eve menu. It was a great casual venue for an informal evening, followed by watching the fireworks at the Halifax Oval. This is our second time at aFrite and we will return to finish tasting the interesting items on the regular menu.
Chef Andrew went above and beyond to meet my dietary needs (vegan). The food was absolutely incredible, the service very welcoming, and great ambiance. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in a heartbeat.
