Description

The Talbot garners mixed reviews, highlighting both its appealing atmosphere and a fluctuating dining experience. While many patrons praise the delicious Sunday roasts and attentive staff, others express disappointment with the quality of food and service under what seems to be new management. Though some dishes, like the tomato salad, receive acclaim, others, such as the chicken burger and roast portions, miss the mark. Despite the upscale prices and occasional service charges, the pub's charm and potential for a pleasant meal keep loyal customers returning. Enthusiastic staff members, like the manager Matt, are often noted as the highlight of visits.

Average roast with surprisingly expensive non alcoholic drinks £4 for a pint of lime and soda? £1 more would have got me a beer… . Roast was luke warm and no one came to check on us seated upstairs if they had I would’ve asked for it to have been microwaved. Pub itself wasn’t very warm with several people sat in coats and scarves. Atmosphere upstairs was completely taken over by a rowdy table screaming. Maybe downstairs on a non Sunday roast day would be better.

The prices here are shocking, so we were expecting something superb. Unfortunately, it is in no way that. The wait staff and bartenders all seemed grumpy. Maybe they all had a rough night, but the service was not great. And the food was very hit or miss. The tomato salad was lovely, but the chicken burger was dry and tasteless and the chips were from Iceland. Others at our table said the steak was awful. Maybe this place was great in 2020, but our seems to have since gone downhill under new ownership. You’ll find better value elsewhere.

The pub looks quite nice and from what I have heard the food is quite good and I suppose that it would be possible to have a good experience there if it weren’t for their extremely rude staff.

I couldn’t rate the food as I didn’t eat but wanted to write a review about Matea, she is such a hard worker! she went above and beyond all night to help make our groups night special. My shoe broke and she helped me fix it, she kept my drinks safe when I went for a smoke and all round nothing was too much trouble! Lewis was also such a pleasure, so happy to help and did everything with a smile on his face. Amazing staff, amazing venue! Will definitely be returning Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
