Description

Dining at the Globe offers a picturesque setting alongside the Thames, yet experiences vary widely. While some patrons rave about mouthwatering dishes, others express disappointment in undercooked meats and lackluster flavors. Issues with limited drink options and slow service have also been noted. Although a fixed-price menu can disappoint with dry turkey and bland desserts, the main menu occasionally redeems itself with standout items like short rib beef. Enthusiastic staff and charming ambiance make for a pleasant visit, but whether diners return remains uncertain. The Globe remains a gamble for culinary satisfaction.

The eggs were cooked perfectly, not overdone. However, the sausage was undercooked and the breading was too thick. The dish was served in a rustic presentation on a small board with waxed paper, making it difficult to cut the egg. They only had one cider on tap, which my wife ordered but was told it had run out. Despite being called a pub, the atmosphere was not traditional. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

Perfect Restaurant for a Perfect Dinner with friends. top quality French wine and Top food selected and choosen from the best marketplace. One of the best restaurant I have tried in London, also for the spectacular view on the Thames. To the next!

Had lunch here today with family members. Nice table overlooking the river and St. Paul's but oh dear the service was slow. Seemed it was a problem with bar and kitchen rather than the waiting staff but I'm afraid we deducted service from the bill. Food was variable. My salad of bitter leaves with quails egg and Cornish Yarg cheese was really excellent, as was the terrine our daughter had, but my husband felt short changed by the sea trout. The only main that was really good was the short rib of beef with mash. My husband ordered this but my daughter ended up eating it as she said her breast and leg of Barbary duck tasted of very little. My Cornish fish stew was also disappointing. Desserts also did not live up to expectation. When I order a fruit pavlova I do not expect a perfectly spherical,over-sweet, mass produced merengue sitting on top of some stewed fruit and cream. Probably won't return.

We were celebrating a birthday and booked for the pre matinee lunch. It was faultless. 3 courses for £24. I has cold pea soup and my friend has the smoked salmon. Main course fish and sanfire and the dessert was fab; chocolate custard, berries and a tweel. A group on the next table were celebrating with afternoon tea and that looked delicious too.

I have dined at this restaurant several times and have always enjoyed the food and service. This time, I decided to try the fixed price menu. Unfortunately, the turkey dish was quite disappointing. The slices of white meat were very dry and lacked gravy, sauces, or the typical trimmings one would expect with turkey. The dessert, trifle, was also a letdown and did not resemble traditional trifle at all. It seemed like the restaurant was unfamiliar with how to properly prepare and serve classic dishes. Three of my friends who ordered the same dishes shared my disappointment. I had much better turkey at my local pub the night before. It's a shame, considering this is normally a good restaurant. However, my friends who ordered off the main menu had excellent meals.
