If you can tramp all the stairs from the ground floor, and avoid the smoking cabals, the roof terrace on top of the Red Lion in Hoxton provides a great fresh air view of London where you can while away an hour or two wrapped around a pleasant pint. Not many places you can do that in the Capital!
Stopped in to get out of the rain. They have a range of breakfast options, many vegetarian. I opted for the breakfast sandwich with the vegetarian sausage, which is really not sausage at all, but a lentil patty. It worked for me, because pretty much any sandwich with a fried egg on it works for me. This is a pub at a historic location, nice feel to it. It's located right near the parliament and other government buildings. Service was good, prices not bad considering area full breakfast around 10 pounds.
Last night my work colleagues and me were having drinks in their terrace when a group of bouncers came in and told us to go saying one of us had brought booze from outside, which I didn't see. Once outside, one of my colleagues wanted to recuperate his bag he had left inside, so I said I was going to go to find it thinking I am a very diplomatic person I could get it and leave. When I explained that to the bouncer at the door, he was good with that and let me in. However, when I tried to explain it to the old blond bouncer inside she started to be rude to me and told me to speak in English to her. As you can see, I can write and read in English perfectly well and I don't think they should be making this rude comments to clients at all.
