A very nice, chilled cocktail bar with a slightly feminine vibe. not packed on a Thursday evening in shoreditch, a bit hard to find down some delicate spiral stairs. many small adjoining rooms with different atmosphere, decoration and sometimes different music. music was in a band where you could have a conversation. I loved the small room on the back where all furniture (louis xw chairs) was packed in white sick house gaze, christos style. also the room where a walnut wing served as a large community table was quite cool. free popcorn was served in delicious porcelain tea tassen. oodles of style. We ended the first time by chance. I had secured a free space in a Bombay-Sapphire-sponsored event around the corner, but when we arrived, they were full. To create this, they gave us two tokens and told us we could redeem them at a place called 98 bar and lounge around the corner on the curtain road, for two gin and tonics. So we have done this due, almost the brand is missing, which is the only sign that this bar exists. it is underground level so that they must keep their eyes peeled, otherwise it is very easy to miss. we went down the small iron stairs (lightly drunk when wet, or they are drunk, or these two should coincide by chance) and entered. the personal had no more...read more
I am consistently impressed by everything at this restaurant, from the creative layout design to the tasty cocktails and the warm staff. The place is filled with stunning objects, architecture, and vintage design, all elegantly put together. I love bringing my friends here as it always guarantees a fantastic experience. A big shoutout to Kath for creating a welcoming atmosphere for us to enjoy some drinks.
We had a private function and whiskey tasting in the new Superhero Room and it was fantastic! Apart from learning loads and enjoying some outstanding rare whiskeys the room was perfect for us and the detail of the decor is IMPRESSIVE. For some reason whiskey and superheros really go together!! Strange but true. We proceeded to have some drinks at the bar downstairs (the owner kindly showed us around as the bar will only open to the public again later in the month) the Tiki bar is awesome and the main bar decor is just mindblowing, cosy and wonderfully different so were the drinks! What an all round refreshing experience. I cannot wait for this place to open doors in November. I must say also the owner Kath is a total gem, the staff is very knowledgable and so very kind! So blown away by the whole experience! It will be my new favourite bar hands down.
Oh my goodness....what I witnessed in this place tonight was nothing short of shocking. My partner and I stumbled across this place by accident and initially were impressed by the decor and ambience. We were tended to by Tasmin who was friendly and helpful. We sat at the bar and as the place got busier the bar itself was filling up with glasses. Tasmin was trying to move the glasses into some area behind the bar. The weirdo guy behind the bar, who appeared to be the head barman, had been gradually getting more and more drunk and started to shout and create a scene in front of us all. Another member of staff came from the back and tried to calm this obnoxious prat down but he seemed too far gone to reason with and was venting his anger on the one person who had delivered good service. He then proceeded to push this poor girl and she shouted for him “not to touch her”. He then told her to leave, as if it was her fault?! How are people like this allowed to bully and command positions of authority? He should have been the one leaving and I can only hope that Tasmin is ok and the Italian? bartender gets what he deserves. I would advise everyone to stay clear of this place. Bullying and mistreatment of staff is not ok!!
