Calls itself a bar, kitchen, but customers can 't order at the par and have a discretionary 12.5% service charge. That is not a bar. No are conditioning available, despite it being a hot day and clearly having air conditioning units. No gluten free beer, which is unacceptable in 2023 London (especially Hackey).
Poorly presented margaritas (salt all over the glass rather than on the rim). Thin, unimaginative, overpriced, menu that doesn't favour non-meat-eaters and hasn't changed in many years. Some staff officious and unfriendly (though others are pleasant). So it's tolerable for al fresco drinking on a sunny afternoon as it has the best position on Broadway Market, but otherwise no. I wish owners/management would notice the poor reviews and up their game as it's a waste and a shame
They seem OK up until you start asking about the Menu, I have had another experience here before, decided to overlook and and give another chance when I asked how our coffee's were doing , I was told they were very busy. quarter of an hour later, asked about breakfast only to find that the order hadn't been put in. Just gave up at this point ,very grabbing.
To detail our recent Market Cafe experience would be to rehash the rude manager's remarks to not only us regarding our meal but also to the dishwasher downstairs, the stale toast, salty salad (how?! , oddly colored hollandaise, and underdone shakshouka. Our waitress was kind but had no control over the quality of the food or wait time (about an hour . I would avoid this cafe at all costs.
