Reviews - Big Dipper
Reviews summary
The Big Dipper offers a charming mix of delicious food and exceptional ice cream that leaves a lasting impression. Guests rave about the mouthwatering California burger, flavorful pork tenderloin sandwich, and standout deep-fried mushrooms, alongside a knockout order of fries. While the establishment has recently changed ownership, the delightful atmosphere and attentive service remain intact, making it a family-friendly destination. Diners appreciate the extensive ice cream selection, including unique flavors, though note it is cash-only, with an ATM nearby. Despite a few minor issues, like menu accessibility, many agree this is a must-visit spot in Hackensack.

Great little place to stop and have a treat without having to detour off the highway. Inside and outside seating offered with a bright and cheery feel. We ordered old fashioned ice cream scoops in waffle Cones which came generously portioned at an incredibly reasonable price. What Scott Lawrence dislikes about Big Dipper:
The Big Dipper raised some red flags for me. I ended up with an awful stomach ache, and now we need a new toilet. While the food was actually quite good, I still have my doubts about it. View all feedback.

Wonderful food at reasonable prices and great service! They have so many flavors of ice cream to choose from as well! My husband had the Wynn burger and tatter rings and I had the chicken salad wrap with fries. The pickled onions in the Wynn added so much flavor and the chicken salad had wild rice as an awesome addition. So tasty! I love this place and follow them on FB to see their specials! Service: Dine in

This establishment has new owners. We come up to this area yearly and have always enjoyed the food and great ice cream! Sad to see now though that there are no more homemade pies.
Great place to go for a wrap or just an ice cream. We go many times every summer! Don't be suprised or discouraged if the line is out the door. They are work fast and always extremely friendly, so it's worth the wait!
We ran into this cute little shop! They have salads, wraps, soups, pie, ice cream. Over 35 ice cream flavors to try! Friendly young lady staff crew Super clean. Small little diner style. CASH ONLY! ATM available on grounds. We tried the delicious ice cream flight with 7 different flavors for $8.25 of course, we grabbed a few pie slices to go 10/10 would recommend
Wow!!! This place is what an ice cream shop is meant to be! You can get full scoops, half scoops, multiple scoops in regular cake cones, waffle cones, waffle cones dipped in chocolate, bowls and probably more. Besides the 40 (approx. different ice cream flavors there were yummy looking baked goods including whole pies. It was clean, well staffed with nice, mostly teen aged girls. I brought my 10 yr.old grandson here for an ice cream lunch, he had a scoop each of Super Man and cotton candy ice cream. He thought it was GREAT! Our granddaughters were with on another occasion and also rated it as GREAT!

This was our first time visiting the Big Dipper, and it certainly won't be our last! I ordered the California burger, and I genuinely believe it's the best burger I've ever had. My husband chose the pork tenderloin sandwich, which he also deemed the best. We also tried the deep-fried mushrooms, and they were absolutely perfect. We both got a side of fries and ended up bringing some home because we simply couldn't finish them. Although we were too full for dessert this time, we're definitely planning to come back for ice cream when we're in the area. The service was outstanding, and the café had such a charming décor. If you're in Hackensack, make sure to stop by this place—you won't be disappointed!

It was our first visit to The Big Dipper, and I have to say, I had the Californian burger, which I believe is the best burger I've ever tasted. My partner tried the pig tail sandwich and thought it was amazing as well. We also ordered the deep-fried mushrooms, which were absolutely perfect. We got a side of fries and ended up bringing some home because we ordered too much. We were too full for dessert, but we will definitely return next time we are in the area. The service was fantastic, and even the café staff were incredibly sweet. I highly recommend that anyone visiting Hackensack make sure to stop by this place—you won’t be disappointed!
