We visit the Rare Bird during our family get-togethers in the Summer. It is a nice homey atmosphere to enjoy a relaxing meal, while resting your bones in the wonderful area. The menu is limited but the food is good, and staff arevery friendly View all feedback.
What Americo Fadel doesn't like about Rare Bird Pub:
Fish & chips were good! Fish was fresh. The beer on tap was flat! One server for the whole pub. This was on a Wednesday night which was Ceildeh night. The last call for food was 7:00. The pub closed at 8:00! Not great if just arriving in the Town looking for a bite to eat. View all feedback.
We sat on the deck drinking great beer made right there and was a smooth harbour. We ordered the fish and chips and they were cooked perfectly.
I can't say I wasn't warned, but I totally misjudged how bad the Rare Bird would be.Horrible, horrible hamburgers. And the only things on the menu are burgers (cheese or no cheese) or fish and chips. The fries are the frozen kind you get at Burger King. And that was the best part of the meal. Two of the most tasteless burgers on two of the most stale buns and one 12-ounce draft beer came to nearly $40. The location and building are beautiful, but the food came in paper boats slung down by a perfunctory server. A "Caesar" side salad so old that the croutons were chewy came in a styrofoam take-out container. (You can choose this instead of fries, but be prepared to add your own dressing with a plastic fork, because there is no knife to get it out of the little plastic tub. I kid you not.)Have a beer here if you want, but whatever you do, don't eat here!
When in Guysboro we usually eat at Days Gone By ... This time we decided to try the Rare Bird -- Shouldn't have -- Menu Cheeseburger, Burger, or Fish and chips.Fish was very good; fries ****. Caesar salad an alternate to fries ... my companion said it was so-so.EXPENSIVE .. $40 for 2 fish and chips plus non-alcoholic beveragesWouldn't go there again ... Shame because the ambience is goodGo to Days Gone By instead!
Nicely decorated pub right on the main street of Guysborough town. Standard pub menu. Brewpub beers offered and were yummy (sampled the IPA and the Lager).
