Stopped here for takeout after reading great reviews. If you have a larger vehicle, be aware that parking is TIGHT. I ordered chicken tikka masala mild and got zero seasoning with it. It was basically tomato soup. Staff weren?t very pleasant either onpickup. It seemed like I was bothering them to pick up and pay for my order. I won?t be back and wouldn?t recommend.
We decided to check out Kamana during a visit to Clinton Premium Outlets. While making a reservation was easy, it didn’t seem necessary as the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy at the time. The establishment feels like a former residence retrofitted into a restaurant, with the original entrance door still intact, giving the impression of walking into someone’s home. Parking is available at the back, but the narrow driveway and entrance can be a bit confusing—you might find yourself accidentally heading toward the kitchen instead of the main entrance. Inside, the ambiance is pleasant, with décor that blends well with Indian culture. The menu, with its metal cover and embossed restaurant name, is unique, though it’s a bit heavy and clunky to handle. We ordered Veg Momos, Chicken Lasuni, Paneer Chilli with Garlic Naan, Tamarind Margarita, and Mango Lassi. The food was good overall. The momos were particularly well-made, while the Paneer Chilli, though slightly dry, still tasted good. The Chicken Lasuni could have used a bit more garlic, and the chicken pieces might have been easier to eat if they were smaller, but they were well-cooked. The Garlic Naan was warm, fluffy, and nicely garnished. Portions were on the smaller side for the price but sufficient for two to share. The Mango Lassi was standard fare—good but nothing extraordinary. The Tamarind Margarita was also good, with a hint of tamarind, though the slender glass it was served in was an unusual choice and could have benefited from a bit more salt on the rim. Service was quick, and the staff were friendly and kind. However, when we asked for cocktail recommendations, the staff couldn’t provide specific suggestions, leaving us to choose the Indian fusion margarita, which, while interesting, could have been recommended or suggested with confidence. Overall, Kamana is definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re in the area.
Had a great time. Set At the bar. Sample three dishes with friends. The bartender was helpful with drinks and food recommendations.
Absolutely incredible place! This has become my favorite place for Indian and Nepali cuisine in the greater new haven area, not to miss. Incredible service, food, atmosphere. The owner is very kind and made us a (delicious) dish off the menu. Their momos are the best I've ever had.
