Polar King - Gresham
Polar King
Description
A beloved retro diner next to arcade games serves hearty, well-priced breakfasts—fresh OJ, excellent coffee, pancakes, corned beef hash and country-fried steak—delivered by warm, attentive staff and a loyal local crowd. The nostalgic, inviting atmosphere and quick service make it ideal for families and regulars. Notable issues include torn seating, occasional flies and poor restroom cleanliness, plus isolated reports of rude behavior, which temper an otherwise charming neighborhood experience.

I had a wonderful time hanging out with the older crowd while watching Team USA win gold at the Olympics, and witnessing Italy secure silver for the first time in 96 years! After gymnastics, when it was time for the swimmers, the hostess asked one of the patrons if they would prefer to watch the news instead. There was silence from everyone. When I left, the swimmers were still playing on the big screen. I ordered country fried steak with hash browns and a pancake. It was a hefty breakfast, so delicious that I completely forgot to take photos until I was nearly halfway through my meal. Everything was great! The country fried steak could have been a bit more tender, but it was still tasty until the very last bite. The coffee was also excellent and was continuously refilled until I was ready to leave. I'm really glad I chose to spend my time and money here. It was a lovely experience, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it too!
It's a casual spot primarily known for its arcade games. However, the service was disappointing; the Asian lady working there was quite disrespectful to my female friend. If I had known this beforehand, I wouldn't have placed an order.
I found a spot at the counter and ordered a cheeseburger, with tater tots for an additional $2, along with a large soda. My total came in under $18, which felt reasonable. After placing my order, my meal arrived in about 5 to 8 minutes. The cheeseburger was generous in size, and the lettuce, tomato, and onion were all fresh. After inspecting the burger, I realized that, given its size, I probably could have forgone the tater tots. While I might be tempted to try a double patty burger on my next visit, I know I'd probably regret it later. Overall, I encourage you to check this place out. It may not be a haven for food snobs, but it’s clear they know how to serve a good meal, which explains their longevity in the business.
Went in on a whim late Sunday afternoon. Place was clean! It's not haute cuisine but, I enjoyed my cheeseburger, my son loved his turkey sandwich. If you're inclined, they have video poker. Plenty of space, ample parking. If you are looking to eat, the food is pretty much standard restaurant food from Sysco, but portions are good, prices are fair, and we found that it was a nice place. A big plus, they have counter seating, and Leave it to Beaver non stop. Can't beat that! Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner
