Spectacular old hotel, definitely the most interesting hotel in Greeneville. The ghosts are offered for no extra cost. We found that room 403 has a ghost that makes you every morning at about 1:40 AM. This morning I was slapped awake at exactly 1:44 AM, so apparently a three day stay is more than the ghost can tolerate. If you’re up for that sort of thing, it’s pretty awesome. View all feedback.
What Ernie Reed doesn't like about General Morgan Inn:
Had a good visit at General Morgan Inn brought my girlfriend for a nice evening and dinner at Brumley‘s for her birthday . The Inn was fine no problems there Brumley’s however I made reservations a week and advance they didn’t tell me the two times that I talk to them about reservations that they have a show menu from time to time and only have four options to eat it was 7 o’clock in the evening and ran out of one on... Nice hotel. Beautiful lobby, pretty rooms. We enjoyed our stay but were disappointed with what they refer to as breakfast. It consisted of pre-packaged sugary items. (Packaged muffins, snack pack fruit, sugary yogurt, granola bars. Nice place, but for the price a better breakfast was expected.
The place is really neat. You feel like you’re in an old, classy hotel. The rooms are roomy and well supplied with everything you need. The workers were kind and helpful. My only negative marks are that the price is a bit high, especially given that there is no complimentary snacks or breakfast. They give you a voucher for a coffee shop that has no real food, just pastries. All and all it was a good stay but a big let down with no breakfast given I paid more than other places in the area.
Beautiful hotel! The room was comfortable. My view overlooked the street, which was always busy with cars going by. The lobby was comfortable and inviting. My conference was in Ballroom A. The HVAC worked too well, we froze for two days, which may have been the presenters preference. The hotel has a story and many believe it to be haunted. I don’t give a lot of thought to that however, I will say I was awakened at 2:03 AM to loud footsteps on the floor above mine. No doors ever closed just loud footsteps on my ceiling for about three minutes. I was told the following morning as I inquired about someone stomping around that history or the ghost story is it is the General walking around. I’m not a person who believes in ghosts but I can say I heard footsteps on my ceiling. No doors shutting or toilet flushing, just loud footsteps that vanished after about three minutes after they began. The only negative I have deals with being able to hear everything in the room connecting to mine. There was a connector door that was locked, which may have been why I could hear everything from the room beside of mine. I would stay there again and request a room that did not connect to mine. We walked down to Tipton’s for lunch which is full of history, as well.
Beautifully restored and maintained downtown hotel, Lounge and hotel with attentive, helpful& friendly staff. Our buffet was everything we had hoped for. My wife was sure to thank the Master Chef who carved the delicious prime rib and kept a watchful eye on the buffet and many of the diners!
Beautiful old hotel located centrally downtown. Rooms are rather small as would be expected for this period and tastefully decorated. Staff were helpful with a very positive attitude and food was delightful. Would stay again.
