I paid 27$ for unseasoned fries and a cheesburger with 2 strips of bacon inside. They forgot to put lettuce and tomatoes on it. The macaroni side it came with had dry pasta as well.
Best BBQ I've ever had! Tried the pulled pork and smoked chicken and it was delicious! Great view of the river in out back. Service was prompt and friendly and facilities were clean.
The majority of us had ribs that were very even without sauce the shredded chicken sandwich that she thoroughly enjoyed also although they forgot the dressing on it. Staff was great although she was embarrassed because we returned the white Russian cocktail to her because they used spoiled cream that curdled and because they were out of the appetizer we ordered (pork rhines). All in all it was a good dining experience. I will add we dined inside to avoid bugs around the river while we ate. Didn't matter because the patio door was open the whole while we were there, so we kept having to shue flies!
The food was quite tasty, though not quite five-star quality. The service was good, and the location is fantastic, right by the river.
This place is fantastic! The meat was so tender that it practically fell off the bone. I enjoyed a local craft beer from Cheboygan, which was a nice touch. Plus, we were seated right by the river. I've been visiting Higgins for 45 years, and this was my first time here—what a hidden gem!
**Ray's: A Culinary Gem with Room for Growth** Ray's offers a lively dining experience highlighted by delicious barbecue and stunning riverside views. Guests have enjoyed a variety of flavorful dishes, from tender brisket to juicy ribs and delightful pulled pork sliders, complemented by an extensive drink menu. While service is often friendly and attentive, some visitors have encountered inconsistencies, with wait times and staff demeanor occasionally detracting from the experience. Despite minor kitchen hiccups, the quality of the food shines through, making Ray’s a worthwhile destination for barbecue lovers. Overall, it’s a hidden gem that many diners will want to revisit.

Super cute place, excellent food, good size portions. Everything we tried was delicious. Beautiful view of river. A+
We finally got to check Ray 's out. It was a Saturday, and we went in for a late lunch well before the supper crowd so it wasn 't too packed. I had a chopped brisket sandwich called The BEAST and it was delicious. My wife had a bowl of chili that was also quite tasty. Plus they had M 43 on tap. We 'll be back for sure!
This place is absolutely charming! The food is excellent, and the portion sizes are generous. Everything we tasted was delicious. Plus, there are stunning views of the river. A definite must-visit!
This restaurant boasts a fantastic atmosphere. The food definitely exceeds expectations! We savored every dish we ordered. The pulled pork had an exceptional flavor, and there was a selection of sauces available at the table to enhance it. Although we sat indoors, the nearby brook added a delightful touch to the experience, even from afar. The service was both friendly and efficient. The waitstaff also took on the role of hostess, yet they managed to keep everything running smoothly without missing a step.
This place had a down home barbecue taste with a hip and fun vibe. Our server was on it and so friendly. I noticed all the other servers were kind and attentive. I tried the Beast sandwich and the Sweet Creeper Chili. It was amazing! Nice heat on the chiliand flavor was bold. The brisket was perfectly smoked and flavorful. I'll come back when I'm in the area next.

During our overnight stay in the area, the hotel owner suggested this restaurant, and it lived up to everything she said! I ordered the BBQ rib meal, while my husband chose the pulled pork sandwich with blue cheese, and both dishes were fantastic. Although the restaurant was full, our food arrived quickly and piping hot! We definitely plan to return if we find ourselves in the area again!
