Grates Cove Studios at Harbour View Inn

I had one of the best and most surprising culinary experiences in Newfoundland at this restaurant. The Cajun style food was beautifully presented, delicious, and creative. The charming environment and friendly (and fascinating!) owner made the experience even more enjoyable. It's definitely worth the trip, and they even deliver to St. John's. I returned for a weekend getaway and stayed at their comfortable accommodation. We also tried the seaweed bath and zodiac tours they organized, which were a lot of fun. It truly felt like being part of a family!

The cooking at The Grate is excellent. The fusion of the owners' Louisiana and Newfoundland heritages results in delicious food. The menu is creative, with dishes like Seafood Étouffée and Dirty Rice that impressed us. Dining with a stunning view of the bay while hearing about the owners' background was truly a unique experience. The Open Studio is a foodie's paradise. Don't miss it.

Extremely disappointed. We made a reservation 2 months in advance and upon arrival, we were informed that our table had been placed in the basement due to a cooking class booking in the main restaurant. We felt very disrespected and made our dissatisfaction known to the staff, but they remained indifferent to our concerns. We will not be returning to this restaurant. This was the only negative experience we had during our trip to Newfoundland in the past three weeks.

Very top menu. The food was fantastic. Visited this facility with my parents. They wanted to go before the order because they were very traditional and didn't know anything on the menu. I asked the staff if they could make fish and chips, and they said yes. I had the Dirty Rice and it was great. My parents liked the fish and the chips.

We stayed 4 nights in Harbour House rental, ate lunch at the restaurant, and had a seaweed bath experience. Everything was OUTSTANDING! Our favourite stop in our 2 week visit to NL! The hiking and the scenery is unique. Special thank you to Bev for being awesome!
